Sir Henry Harpur, 5th Baronet
Sir Henry Harpur, 5th Baronet (24 June 1708 – 7 June 1748) was an English baronet and politician. He was the oldest son of Sir John Harpur, 4th Baronet, of Calke Abbey, and his wife Catherine, daughter of Thomas Crew, 2nd Baron Crew. He was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford. Harpur was a ToryPage 29, Derby and the Forty-Five , L. Eardley-Simpson, Published Philip Allen 1933 Member of Parliament (MP) for Worcester from 1744 to 1747, and for Tamworth from 1747 until his death in 1748, aged 40. He married Lady Caroline Manners (died 1769), daughter of the Duke of Rutland. He was succeeded in the baronetcy by his second but eldest surviving son Henry (''c.''1739–1789). His daughter Caroline married the Scottish MP Adam Hay. Harpur-Crewe Baronets
The Harpur (later Crewe and Harpur Crewe) Baronetcy, of Calke Abbey, Derbyshire was a title in the Baronetage of England. It was created on 8 September 1626 for Henry Harpur. He was a grandson of Richard Harpur, Justice of the Common Pleas, of Swarkestone Hall, Swarkestone, Derbyshire. The fourth Baronet was High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1702. He married Catherine, daughter of Thomas Crewe, 2nd Baron Crew (see Baron Crew). The fifth Baronet sat as Member of Parliament for Worcester and Tamworth. The sixth Baronet was Member of Parliament for Derbyshire. The seventh Baronet assumed the alternative surname of Crewe in 1808 in commemoration of his ancestry. The eighth Baronet sat as Member of Parliament for Derbyshire South. The ninth Baronet assumed the surname Harpur Crewe and was High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1853. Sir Henry Harpur, 6th Baronet
Sir Henry Harpur, 6th Baronet (1739 – 10 February 1789) was an English Tory politician who represented the constituency of Derbyshire. Harpur was the son of Sir Henry Harpur, 5th Baronet and Lady Caroline Manners, daughter of John Manners, 2nd Duke of Rutland. He succeeded his father to the Baronetcy in 1748. He lived at Calke Abbey, Derbyshire and 35 Upper Grosvenor Street, London. He was returned as Member of Parliament for Derbyshire in 1761, but was replaced in a rare contested election in 1768. He served as High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1774. Harpur married Frances Greville, second daughter of Francis Greville, 1st Earl of Warwick and 1st Earl Brooke. in 1762. Sir Henry Crewe, 7th Baronet (1763 – 6 February 1819), born Henry Harpur, was the only son of Sir Henry Harpur, 6th Baronet, and Frances Greville, the second daughter of Francis Greville, 1st Earl of Warwick. He was born in 1763 and took his place as the owner of the estate when his father died in 1789. Henry Harpur Crewe
Henry Harpur-Crewe (1828–1883) was an English clergyman and naturalist. From 1856 to 1860 he was the Curate of Drinkstone and Creeting St Peter, both in Suffolk, but in 1860 he was appointed Rector of Drayton Beauchamp, a living he occupied until his death in 1883. Biography Henry Harpur-Crewe was the son of Reverend Henry Robert Crewe (né Harpur), Rector of Breadsall in Derbyshire, and nephew of Sir George Crewe bt. of Calke. He obtained a BA degree from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1851 and an MA in 1855 In 1857 his father was the rector of Breadsall in Derbyshire, a small village which also included the naturalists Joseph Whittaker and Francis Darwin. He was interested in natural history from an early age, contributing observations to ''The Zoologist''. His main interest was in entomology, particularly pug moths (''Eupithecia'').
