Henry Gordon Bennett
Lieutenant General Henry Gordon Bennett, (15 April 1887 – 1 August 1962) was a senior Australian Army officer who served in both World War I and World War II. Despite highly decorated achievements during World War I, during which he commanded at both battalion and brigade level and became the youngest general in the Australian Army, Bennett is best remembered for his role in the Battle of Singapore in February 1942 in the Pacific War. As commander of the 8th Australian Division, he escaped while his men became prisoners of the Imperial Japanese Army. After this, Bennett's military career waned and, although he rose to command a corps, he never again commanded troops in battle. In 1945, his escape caused controversy and resulted in a Royal Commission and military enquiry. Both found that he had been unjustified in relinquishing his command. Henry Gordon McMorran
Henry Gordon McMorran (June 11, 1844 – July 19, 1929) was an American Republican politician and businessman. He served five terms in the U.S. Congress as a U.S. Representative from Michigan's 7th congressional district from March 4, 1903, until March 3, 1913. Early life and education McMorran was born in Port Huron, Michigan, where he attended the Crawford Private School. Early career He engaged in the wholesale grocery business in 1865 and also in the milling, grain, and elevator business. He was a member of the Port Huron board of aldermen in 1867 and was the Port Huron city treasurer in 1875. McMorran was general manager of the Port Huron and Northwestern Railway from 1878 to 1889 and a member of the State canal commission. Henry Gordon Rice (July 18, 1920 – April 14, 2003) was an American logician and mathematician best known as the author of Rice's theorem, which he proved in his doctoral dissertation of 1951 at Syracuse University with thesis advisor Paul C. Rosenbloom. Rice was also a Professor of Mathematics at the University of New Hampshire. After 1960 he was employed by Computer Sciences Corporation in El Segundo, California, El Segundo. Harry Gordon Johnson, (26 May 1923 – 9 May 1977) was a Canadian economist who studied topics such as international trade and international finance. Nobel laureate James Tobin said about him: "For the economics profession throughout the world, the third quarter of this century was an Age of Johnson. ...
