Henry Fedeski
Henry Fedeski ARIBA (1907–1993) was a British architect, responsible for several buildings in the Leamington Spa area, including Lillington County Library, and the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady, Valley Road, Lillington, both Grade II listed. He co-founded Rayner and Fedeski Architects. Lillington Library is a public library in Leamington Spa, England. It was designed by Henry Fedeski in a Festival of Britain style. It was built 1959–60 and was Grade II listed in 2015 after Warwick District Council intended to demolish it along with other community buildings in Lillington as part of a regeneration plan. Leamington Spa
Royal Leamington Spa, commonly known as Leamington Spa or simply Leamington (), is a spa town and civil parish in Warwickshire, England. Originally a small village called Leamington Priors, it grew into a spa town in the 18th century following the popularisation of its water which was reputed to have medicinal qualities. In the 19th century, the town experienced one of the most rapid expansions in England. It is named after the River Leam, which flows through the town. The town contains especially fine ensembles of Regency architecture, particularly in parts of the Parade, Clarendon Square and Lansdowne Circus. The Festival of Britain was a national exhibition and fair that reached millions of visitors throughout the United Kingdom in the summer of 1951. Historian Kenneth O. Morgan says the Festival was a "triumphant success" during which people: Labour cabinet member Herbert Morrison was the prime mover; in 1947 he started with the original plan to celebrate the centennial of the Great Exhibition of 1851. However, it was not to be another World Fair, for international themes were absent, as was the British Commonwealth. Instead the 1951 festival focused entirely on Britain and its achievements; it was funded chiefly by the government, with a budget of £12 million.
