Henry Cravatte
Henry Cravatte (born 21 May 1911 Diekirch; died 4 November 1990 Ettelbrück) was a Luxembourgish politician. Political activity Cravatte studied Jurisprudence and in 1936 became lawyer in Diekirch. His political career began in 1951 when he was placed on the list of the Workers' Party. He was elected to the local council and later as the mayor of Diekirch. From 1953 to 1957 he was a member of the Comité -director. In the period from 1958 to 1959 he was State Secretary of the economy. In 1959, Cravatte was elected to the Chamber of Deputies, the Luxembourg parliament. In 1964 he became Vice President of Government and Minister of Internal Affairs. After the founding of the Social Democratic Party, he resigned as president on 3 May 1970 and joined the newly formed party. From 1968 Cravatte was elected to the Chamber every five years until 1978. Diekirch
Diekirch ( lb, Dikrech or (locally) ; from ''Diet-Kirch'', i.e. "people's church") is a commune with town status in north-eastern Luxembourg, capital city of the canton Diekirch and, until its abolition in 2015, the district of Diekirch. The town is situated on the banks of the Sauer river. The town's heraldic shield, showing a crowned lion on a castle, was granted in 1988. It is based on the town's 14th-century seal and arms. In 2001, the town of Diekirch itself, which lies in the south of the commune, had a population of 6,068. in 1977, Diekirch was the first town in Luxembourg to have a pedestrian zone. Antoine Wehenkel
Antoine Wehenkel (10 February 1910 – 27 February 1992) was a Luxembourgian politician and engineer. He was a member of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), of which he was President (1970 – 1974). Wehenkel was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1951, and would continue to be so until 1974. Wehenkel withdrew from sitting as a deputy to take his place in the government of Pierre Werner between 1964 and 1969, holding the position of Minister for the Budget and the newly created office of Minister for the National Economy and Energy. With the LSAP ejected from government by a shift of coalition in 1969, Wehenkel turned to be President of the Chamber, which he remained until 1974, when he retired from politics. Paul Wilwertz
Paul Wilwertz (7 April 1905 – 28 December 1979) was a Luxembourgish politician for the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP). He was Mayor of Luxembourg City for five years, as well as sitting in the Chamber of Deputies and holding positions in the government. Born in Wiltz, Wilwertz attended the Athénée de Luxembourg in Luxembourg City, before studying law at Nancy, Montpellier, and Toulouse. He joined the LSAP when he was 21. He became the Director of the National Employment Office (ONT) in 1945. Later the same year, he was appointed to the Council of State and sat on the board of directors of the LSAP for the first time.
