Henry Colley (circa 1685 – 1723 cites /10 February 1724) was an Irish Member of Parliament. He was a member of the same family as the Duke of Wellington. Biography Colley was the son of Henry Colley (died 1719) and Mary, daughter of Sir William Ussher. cites Colley represented Strabane in the Irish House of Commons from 1723 to his death. Family In 1719 Colley married Mary, daughter of James Hamilton, 6th Earl of Abercorn and Hon. Elizabeth Reading. They had a daughter: * Mary (11 July 1723 – 7 April 1794), who married Arthur Pomeroy, 1st Viscount Harberton by whom she had seven children. Lord Chancellor Of Ireland
The Lord High Chancellor of Ireland (commonly known as Lord Chancellor of Ireland) was the highest judicial office in Ireland until the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922. From 1721 to 1801, it was also the highest political office of the Irish Parliament: the Chancellor was Speaker of the Irish House of Lords. Sir Thomas Cusack (also spelt Cusacke or Cusake) (1490–1571) was an Anglo-Irish judge and statesman of the sixteenth century, who held the offices of Master of the Rolls in Ireland, Lord Chancellor of Ireland, and Chancellor of the Exchequer of Ireland, and sat in the Irish House of Commons. Arthur Pomeroy, 1st Viscount Harberton (16 January 1723 – 9/11 April 1798) was an Anglo-Irish politician. He was born in Cork, the eldest son of the Rev John Pomeroy, Archdeacon of Cork, and his wife Elizabeth Donnellan of Cloghan, County Roscommon. He sat in the Irish House of Commons as the Member of Parliament for County Kildare from 1761 until he was raised to the Irish House of Lords as Baron Harberton in the Peerage of Ireland on 10 October 1783. He was further created Viscount Harberton on 5 July 1791. He married Mary Colley, daughter of Henry Colley of Castle Carbury, great uncle of the 1st Duke of Wellington, by his wife Lady Mary Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, 6th Earl of Abercorn. James Hamilton, 6th Earl of Abercorn, PC (Ire) ( – 1734) was a Scottish and Irish peer and politician. Appointed a groom of the bedchamber to Charles II after the his father's death in battle, he took the Williamite side at the Glorious Revolution and in March 1689 supplied Derry with stores that enabled the town to sustain the Siege of Derry until it was relieved in August. Shortly after inheriting a Scottish and Irish peerage from a second cousin, he was created a viscount in Ireland for his services to the Williamite cause.
