Henry Christeen Warnack
Henry Christeen Warnack (18771927)) was a film and theater critic in the United States. He released novels and works of poetry. He crafted essays on a range of topics. Besides being a talented speaker, he got involved in the early film industry, scripting stories and Scenarios for various silent films. Early years Warnack was born in Campbell Tennessee, on October 1, 1877. He attended the Military Academy - Tennessee Military Institute. After graduation, he taught school in Maryville, Tennessee. Later, he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. He started his newspaper career as a cub reporter for The Knoxville Journal and Tribune and the Knoxville News Sentinel. Because of health concerns, he moved to Colorado becoming a reporter for Colorado Springs Gazette and the Rocky Mountain News in Denver. Elmer Clifton
Elmer Clifton (March 14, 1890 – October 15, 1949) was an American writer, director and actor from the early silent days. A collaborator of D.W. Griffith, he appeared in ''The Birth of a Nation'' (1915) and ''Intolerance'' (1916) before giving up acting in 1917 to concentrate on work behind the camera, with Griffith and Joseph Henabery as his mentors. His first feature-length solo effort as a director was ''The Flame of Youth'' with Jack Mulhall. Clifton honed his talents during the late 1910s, directing vehicles for Mulhall and Herbert Rawlinson at Universal and then for Dorothy Gish for Famous Players-Lasky. Two of his projects with Gish, '' Nobody Home'' and ''Nugget Nell'', featured performances from pre-stardom Rudolph Valentino. Most of this early output has been lost. The Morals Of Hilda
The Morals of Hilda is a 1916 American silent film directed by Lloyd B. Carleton. The melodrama is based on the story of Henry Christeen Warnack and features Gretchen Lederer, Lois Wilson and Emory Johnson. August and Hilda were living together while saving money to get married. In their country, it did not discourage living arrangements like theirs. Since finding work was difficult in their village, they immigrated to America. American values challenged them by asserting that only wed couples can live together and have children. Seeking employment, Hilda secures a position as a domestic, while August has trouble. Hilda discovers she is pregnant. A desperate August goes to sea and dies in a shipwreck. Hilda gives birth to a baby boy but becomes distraught upon learning of August's fate.
