Henry C. Boggs
Henry Carroll Boggs (1 June 1820 – 27 September 1898) was a farmer, businessman and banker who was prominent in Lake County, California in the late 19th century. His name was given to Boggs Mountain and Boggs Lake Early years (1820–1850) Henry C. Boggs was born in Jackson County, Missouri on 1 June 1820, the second son of Lilburn Boggs. His mother died in the year of his birth. His father remarried in 1823, and had seven more children between 1824 and 1841. His father would be governor of Missouri from 1836 to 1840. Henry Boggs was educated in Missouri, and became a farmer there. On 13 October 1840 he married Martha J. Young. Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest
Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest is a state forest in Lake County, California that covers the northwest of Boggs Mountain. It was founded in 1949, and came into operation in 1950 when most of the site had been clear cut. The purpose was to demonstrate good practices in restoring and managing a forest. The state forest was open for recreational use, including camping, hiking, mountain biking etc. The 2015 Valley Fire destroyed 80% of the trees. The state forest as of 2021 was replanting saplings. The California Constitutional Conventions were two separate constitutional conventions that took place in California during the nineteenth century which led to the creation of the modern Constitution of California. The first, known as the 1849 Constitutional Convention of Monterey, held in September and October 1849 in advance of California attaining U.S. statehood the following year, adopted the state's original constitution. This document maintains jurisdiction along with the current constitution which was ratified on May 7, 1879, following the 1879 Constitutional Convention of Sacramento. Heald's Business College
Heald College (1863 –2015) was a private for-profit businesscareer college with its main campus in San Francisco, California. It offered courses in the fields of healthcare, business, legal, and technology. Beginning in 2012, it also offered full online degrees. Heald College was owned by Corinthian Colleges, a for-profit education company that also operated Everest College and WyoTech. Heald College closed for good when Corinthian Colleges shuttered all of their campuses on April 27, 2015. McClure's Academy
The California Military Academy is a military academy of the California Army National Guard located at Camp San Luis Obispo. History The school started as an idea of an " Officer Candidate School" (OCS) in 1950. However, a need for an academy in California convinced Major General Curtis D. O’Sullivan to start a program. The school's first graduating class was in 1951. During the next ten years, the program began to expand. However, the school was not called the California Military Academy until 1961, when training officially came under the new academy. In 1974, the first women graduates were commissioned from the program, two years before West Point started admitting women. The 223rd Infantry Regiment became the official school infantry.
