Henry Bruce (priest)
Sir Henry Hervey Aston Bruce, 1st Baronet (6 September 17881822) was an Irish priest. In 1785 he graduated Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Trinity College, Dublin. He was the brother of Sir Stewart Bruce, 1st Baronet. He married Letitia Barnard on 10 November 1786. He was created baronet, of Downhill in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom Baronets are a rank in the British aristocracy. A baronet ( or ; abbreviated Bart or Bt) or the female equivalent, a baronetess (, , or ; abbreviation Btss), is the holder of a baronetcy, a hereditary title awarded by the British Crown. There have been four baronetcies created for persons with the surname Bruce, two in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia and two in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Two of the creations are extant as of 2010. The Bruce Baronetcy, of Stenhouse in the County of Clackmannan, was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 29 September 1628 for William Bruce, with remainder to his heirs male whatsoever.
