''Henry Browne, Farmer'' is an American short propaganda film produced in 1942 about African-American contributions to the war effort during World War II. It is narrated by Canada Lee. The film begins with stock footage of soldiers marching, tanks, and people in the war industries, the narrator noting that we had an army behind the troops in the war industries, and they had an army behind them, American agriculture. The story switches to a day in the life of Henry Browne, farmer; Henry Browne is 38 years old, married with three children. He makes his living off the land. When the sun comes up every member of the family has their chores to do. Little Henry goes to milk the cow, this is the first year they had a cow. His sister goes to feed the chickens, which are good layers, and the ones that aren't are good "eaters". Mrs. Brown tends the garden. Henry Browne (scholar)
Henry Browne (1804–1875) was an English classical and biblical scholar. Early years Browne was the son of the Rev. Henry John Browne, rector of Crownthorpe, Norfolk. He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he was Bell Scholar in 1823. He graduated B.A. in 1826, and M.A. in 1830. Career From 1842 to 1847 he was principal of the theological college, Chichester. On 9 December 1842 he was collated to the prebendal stall of Waltham in Chichester Cathedral, and in 1843 he was appointed examining chaplain to the bishop of Chichester. In 1854 he was preferred to the parish of Pevensey in the same diocese. Here he remained until his death, 19 June 1875. Publications Besides editions and translations of the classics, Browne applied himself chiefly to the elucidation of sacred chronology. Colonel Henry George Gore-Browne (30 September 1830 – 15 November 1912) was born in Newtown, County Roscommon and was an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Family Henry George was the son of Arthur Browne, Esq. (d.1870), and his wife Anna Elizabeth Clements, daughter of Captain Clements. He was a great-great grandson of the 1st Earl of Altamont MP, whose heir is the Marquess of Sligo. His great-grandfather was The Right Hon Arthur Browne MP, of Leixslip Castle. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin. He married Jane Anne Seely, daughter of Charles Seely MP on 10 April 1882. Air Vice Marshal Henry Meyrick Cave-Browne-Cave (1 February 1887 – 5 August 1965), was an engineering officer in the Royal Naval Air Service during the First World War and senior commander in the Royal Air Force during the 1930s. He was prominent in the development of seaplanes and, following the armistice, flying boats. In 1927 he led crews in four flying boats, the Far East Flight, from England around Australia and then up to Hong Kong. His career was cut short by a serious flying accident in January 1939 so until 1945 he was appointed Air Liaison Officer to the Regional Commission for Scotland. Henry Ulick Browne, 5th Marquess of Sligo (14 March 1831 – 24 February 1913), styled Lord Henry Browne until 1903, was an Irish peer. Browne was the fourth son of Howe Browne, 2nd Marquess of Sligo, and Lady Hester Catherine de Burgh, daughter of John de Burgh, 13th Earl of Clanricarde. He succeeded to the marquessate in December 1903, aged 72, on the death of his unmarried elder brother. He married Catherine Henrietta Dicken, daughter of William Stephens Dicken, on 25 October 1855. Henry Browne Blackwell (May 4, 1825 – September 7, 1909), was an American advocate for social and economic reform. He was one of the founders of the Republican Party and the American Woman Suffrage Association. He published ''Woman's Journal'', starting in 1870 in Boston, Massachusetts, with Lucy Stone. Early life Henry Blackwell was born May 4, 1825, in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, the seventh of nine children of Samuel Blackwell and Hannah Lane Blackwell. Blackwell's father, a sugar refiner whose livelihood conflicted with his abolitionist principles, experimented with making beet sugar as an alternative to slave-grown cane sugar. Henry Browne Hayes
Sir Henry Browne Hayes (1762–1832) was an Irish-born convict, transported to New South Wales. Hayes was born in Ireland, the son of Attiwell Hayes (d.1799) a wealthy brewer and miller. Henry Browne Hayes was admitted a freeman of the city of Cork in November 1782, was one of the sheriffs in 1790, and in that year was knighted. Following the death of his wife, he became acquainted with Miss Mary Pike, heiress to over £20,000. On 22 July 1797, he abducted her and took her to his house at Vernon Mount near Douglas. In spite of Miss Pike's protestations, a man dressed as a priest was brought in who went through a form of a marriage ceremony. Miss Pike refused to consider it a marriage, and was eventually rescued by some of her relatives. Hayes fled, and a reward of £1000 was offered for his apprehension.
