Henry William Allan (politician)
Henry William Allan (December 29, 1843 – March 10, 1913) was a Canadian politician, merchant and produce dealer. He was elected in 1891 as a Member of the House of Commons of Canada for the riding of Essex South, Ontario representing the Liberal Party. He was defeated in the 1878 election when he ran in the riding of Norfolk South. Prior to his federal political experience, he was elected as a councillor in Norfolk County, Ontario and as reeve in Walsingham, Ontario Norfolk County in the Canadian province of Ontario consists of a long list of communities. Its four designated population centres are Simcoe, Port Dover, Delhi, and Waterford. The population of the County at the time of the 2016 Census was 64,04 .... Henry Allan (painter)
Henry Allan (18 June 1865 – 2 September 1912) was an Irish people, Irish Painting, painter. He was born at Retreat House, Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, the youngest son of William and Anne Allan. He studied art in Belfast and Dublin, and continued his art education in Antwerp, alongside contemporary Richard Moynan. He won multiple prizes at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Antwerp Academy as well as the Taylor Prize at the Royal Dublin Society. The gallery's website notes that the style of this work, shows the influence of his training in Antwerp with influences from the Hague School.
