Henry's Dress
Henry's Dress was an American noise pop band from Albuquerque, New Mexico (and later from San Francisco, California), consisting of Amy Linton (later of The Aislers Set) and Matt Hartman, who both acted as singer, guitarist and drummer at various times, and Hayyim Sanchez as bassist, which was formed in 1993. They were signed to Slumberland Records before disbanding in 1997. Noise Pop
Noise pop is a subgenre of alternative and indie rock that developed in the mid-1980s in the United Kingdom and United States. It is defined by its mixture of dissonant noise or feedback with the songcraft more often found in pop music. Shoegazing, another noise-based genre that developed in the 1980s, drew from noise pop. History and characteristics Noise pop has been described by AllMusic as "the halfway point between bubblegum music, bubblegum and the avant-garde"; the combination of conventional pop music, pop songwriting with experimental music, experimental sounds of white noise, distortion (music), distorted guitars and drone (music), drones. Slumberland Records
Slumberland Records is an American independent record label, formed in 1989 in Washington, D.C. and based in Oakland, California. The label has released recordings by Velocity Girl, Honeybunch, Lilys, Stereolab, Evans The Death, St. Christopher, Boyracer, Beatnik Filmstars, 14 Iced Bears, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. History Inspired by independent punk labels such as K Records, Slumberland was created as a collective effort consisting of members of D.C. area bands Velocity Girl and Big Jesus Trash Can as a mecca for indie pop bands, seldom heard outside of the K Records label. Coachwhips
Coachwhips was a garage rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 2001. The band consisted of John Dwyer (vocals, guitar), John Harlow (drums) and Mary Ann McNamara (keyboards, backing vocals, tambourine). In their second incarnation, Val-Tronic played keyboard/tambourine, and Matt Hartman (former guitarist for Cat Power and multi-instrumentalist for Sic Alps) played drums. The Aislers Set
The Aislers Set is an American indie pop band that formed in San Francisco in 1997, after the breakup of chief songwriter Amy Linton's former band Henry's Dress. The Aislers Set's music is influenced by C86-style British indie pop. The founding members were Linton (guitar, vocals, multi instrumentalist), Wyatt Cusick (guitar, vocals, multi instrumentalist), Alicia Vanden Heuvel, (bass, vocals, piano, multi instrumentalist), Yoshi Nakamoto (drums), & Jen Cohen (organ). Rocketship is an American indie pop band formed in Sacramento, California, United States, in 1993. Led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Dustin Reske with bassist Verna Brock, keyboardist Heidi Barney and drummer Jim Rivas, the group released the single "Hey, Hey, Girl" in 1994 and the album ''A Certain Smile, a Certain Sadness'' in 1996.
