Henrique de Senna Fernandes (October 15, 1923, Macao – October 4, 2010, Macao) was a Macanese writer. Born in 1923 as one of 11 siblings to an old Macanese family, who settled in Macau over 250 years ago, he studied law at the University of Coimbra before becoming a writer. , 5 October 2010 His work, written in Portuguese, evokes the atmosphere of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s in the territory. Macau or Macao (; ; ; ), officially the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (MSAR), is a city and special administrative region of China in the western Pearl River Delta by the South China Sea. Macau International Airport ( zh, 澳門國際機場; pt, Aeroporto Internacional de Macau) is an international airport in the special administrative region of Macau, situated at the eastern end of Taipa island and neighbouring waters which opened for commercial operations on 9 November 1995, during Portuguese administration of the region. ''Nam Van'' is a collection of short stories by the Macanese author Henrique de Senna Fernandes. It was first published in Macau in 1978. Taking its name from Praia Grande also known as Nam Van in Chinese, written in Portuguese, the collection is an attempt to sketch out aspects of the identity of the Macanese, the mixed race community considered by the Chinese and the Portuguese to be the sons of the soil. The Bewitching Braid
''The Bewitching Braid'' (, pt, A Trança Feiticeira) is a 1996 film directed by Cai Yuanyuan (蔡元元) and produced by Cai An'an (蔡安安 aka "Choi Unun"). It was the first film produced in Macau. The Cai brothers hoped to make a film that showcased the territory. The production company was jointly owned by the two brothers. The budgeting of the film, shot in 1995, was for 8,000,000 Macau patacas, with 2,000,000 patacas of that used for distribution purposes. It is an adaptation of written by Henrique de Senna Fernandes, written originally in Portuguese as ''A Trança Feiticeira''; the English translation of this novel was published under the same English name, ''The Bewitching Braid'', by Hong Kong University Press.
