Henri Yrissou
Henri Yrissou (May 15, 1909 - June 21, 2009) was a French World War II veteran and politician. He served as a member of the National Assembly and as the mayor of Gaillac. Early life Henri Yrissou was born in Nîmes, France on May 15, 1909. During World War II, he joined the French Resistance and consequently received the Resistance Medal; he also received the Croix de Guerre and became a Commander of the Legion of Honour. Additionally, he became a Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Career Yrissou was Public Works and Foreign Affairs Minister Antoine Pinay's chief of staff from 1950 to 1955. He then served as a member of the National Assembly from November 30, 1958 to October 9, 1962, representing Tarn. He also served as the mayor of Gaillac Gaillac (; ) is a commune in the Tarn department in southern France. It had in 2013 a population of 14,334 inhabitants. Its inhabitants are called Gaillacois. Nîmes
Nîmes ( , ; oc, Nimes ; Latin: ''Nemausus'') is the prefecture of the Gard department in the Occitanie region of Southern France. Located between the Mediterranean Sea and Cévennes, the commune of Nîmes has an estimated population of 148,561 (2019). Dubbed the most Roman city outside Italy, Nîmes has a rich history dating back to the Roman Empire when the city had a population of 50,000–60,000 and was the regional capital. Antoine Pinay
Antoine Pinay (; 30 December 1891 – 13 December 1994) was a French conservative politician who served as Prime Minister of France from 1952 to 1953. Life Antoine Pinay was born on 30 December 1891 in Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise. He was a child of Claude Pinay (5 July 1852 – 4 March 1919), and his wife, Marie Antoinette Besson (10 October 1861 – 23 November 1936). On 25 April 1917, Pinay married Marguerite Fouletier (3 June 1895 – 3 December 1970) and had two daughters and one son, Geneviève (1918–2017), Odette (1920–2015), and Pierre (1922–1964). As a young man, Pinay fought in World War I and injured his arm so that it was paralyzed for the rest of his life. After the war, he managed a small business and in 1929 he was elected mayor of Saint-Chamond, Loire. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), formally the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, is an organization of US war veterans, who, as military service members fought in wars, campaigns, and expeditions on foreign land, waters, or airspace.
