Henri Vidal
Henri Vidal (26 November 1919 – 10 December 1959) was a French film actor. Film career Henri Lucien Raymond VidalSource Les Gens du cinéma/ref> was first noticed after he won the "Apollo of 1939" contest in Paris. He was spotted by Édith Piaf, and made his film debut alongside her in the movie Montmartre-sur-Seine in 1941. Vidal went on to appear in more than 30 films between 1941 and 1959. In addition to his wife, Michèle Morgan, he played opposite some of the biggest leading ladies in French films of the 1950s: Françoise Arnoul, Brigitte Bardot, Dany Carrel, Mylène Demongeot, Sophia Loren, Romy Schneider, and Marina Vlady. Personal life In May 1943 he married the actress Michèle Cordoba, and they divorced in July 1946. In 1950 he married French actress Michèle Morgan, whom he met while filming Alessandro Blasetti's 1949 film '' Fabiola''. Death He died in 1959 of a heart attack. Pontgibaud
Pontgibaud () is a commune in the Puy-de-Dôme départment in Auvergne in central France. It is located in the Massif Central region of France on the banks of the river Sioule. The area around the town was historically known for silver and lead mining. The Société des mines et fonderies de Pontgibaud exploited the lead-silver mines between 1852 and 1897. René Clément
René Clément (; 18 March 1913 – 17 March 1996) was a French film director and screenwriter. Life and career Clément studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts where he developed an interest in filmmaking. In 1936, he directed his first film, a 20-minute short written by and featuring Jacques Tati. Clément spent the latter part of the 1930s making documentaries in parts of the Middle East and Africa. In 1937, he and archaeologist Jules Barthou were in Yemen making preparations to film a documentary film, documentary, the first ever of that country and one that includes the only known film image of Imam Yahya. Almost ten years passed before Clément directed a feature but his French Resistance film, ''La Bataille du rail'' (1945), gained much critical and commercial success. ''The Damned'' (french: Les Maudits) is a 1947 French Drama (film and television), drama war film directed by René Clément. It was entered into the 1947 Cannes Film Festival. The film is notable for its depiction of the interior of a wartime submarine and for its tracking shots through the length of the U-boat. Plot As Germany is in the throes of losing World War II, a number of wealthy Nazis and some French sympathizers head for South America in a German submarine leaving from Oslo.
