Great Henny
Great Henny is a village and civil parish near Sudbury, in the Braintree district, in the county of Essex, England. Nearby settlements include the villages of Little Henny and Twinstead. The hamlet of Henny Street, within the parish, is on the River Stour which forms the parish's eastern border. Location In 1870 the parish was described as "on the river Stour and the Sudbury railway, at the boundary with Suffolk, 2 miles S of Sudbury r. station. Post town, Sudbury." Great Henny is approximately north-west of Colchester and 11 miles north-east of Braintree. Henry "Henny" Youngman (16 March 1906 – 24 February 1998) was a British-born American comedian and musician famous for his mastery of the " one-liner", his best known being "Take my wife... please". In a time when many comedians told elaborate anecdotes, Youngman's routine consisted of telling simple one-liner jokes, occasionally with interludes of violin playing. These depicted simple, cartoon-like situations, eliminating lengthy build-ups and going straight to the punch line. Jan Hendrik Albert "Henny" Eman (born 20 March 1948) is an Aruban retired politician. He was the first Prime Minister of Aruba from 1 January 1986 to 9 February 1989 and again from 29 July 1994 to 30 October 2001. Henny Street is a hamlet in the civil parish of Great Henny and the Braintree district of Essex, England. The hamlet is on Henny Road at the east of the parish and adjacent to the west bank of the River Stour. Henny Street is a linear hamlet south from, but incorporating, the junction of the road to Middleton, the adjacent parish to the north. The hamlet holds three Grade II listed buildings. Henny Cottage dates to the 14th century, was formerly a hall house and is plastered, timber framed and thatched. The timber framed, plastered and gabled Street Farmhouse, the focus of Street Farm, dates to the 15th century with later additions and alterations. Mill House, on the Stour side of the hamlet is early 19th century, plastered over timber framing. Jan Hendrik Albert "Henny" Eman (7 August 1887 – 17 October 1957) was an Aruban politician and founder of the Aruban People's Party who led the movement for Aruba's autonomy from Curaçao. His grandson went on to become the first Prime Minister of Aruba. Biography Henny Eman was born on 7 August 1887 in Aruba. In 1921, he became a member of the Aruba Court of Policy. In 1922, he was elected to the Council of State, a governing body which was subservient to the Colonial Council of Curaçao. The number of voters for the Council of State was severely limited: in 1931, Eman was re-elected with 144 votes. In 1931, Eman was one of the petitioners to the States General of the Netherlands asking for more autonomy for Aruba. In 1937, the Colonial Council of Curaçao was dissolved and replaced by the Parliament of Curaçao, however Curaçao and the Netherlands were still firmly in control. She was the wife of actor and comedian Jim Backus. Career Henrietta Kaye was born in Brooklyn on March 21, 1911. She studied sculpture at Cooper Union, but she preferred working in the theater and appeared in Broadway musicals during the 1930s. She had the role of Bee in the Broadway play ''Chrysalis'' (1932). Henny Moan (born 22 February 1936) is a Norwegian actress from Finnmark. She has had a long career in theatre, but is best known for her roles in certain classics of Norwegian cinema, such as the Oscar-nominated '' Nine Lives'' (1957) and '' Lake of the Dead'' (1958). Henny Vrienten (27 July 1948 – 25 April 2022) was a Dutch musician best known as the singer and bassist of the popular 1980s ska pop band Doe Maar. He also composed television and film scores. Biography Early days Vrienten began his career in the late 1960s as a member of the local outfit Les Cruches. In the early 1970s, he wrote songs for others and released his first single as Ruby Carmichael. In 1977, Vrienten released his debut solo album, ''Paul Santos'', which he recorded with US producer Tom Salisbury. "Lift Me Up Higher" was extracted as a single. Also in the 1970s, he began working with singer-songwriter Boudewijn de Groot in the studio and on stage. Henny Kristin Skjønberg (6 August 1886 – 5 January 1973) was a Norwegian actress and stage director. Biography Hennika Bucher Eide was born in Stavanger, Norway. She was the daughter of Henrik Eide (1831–1907) and Ingeborg Sofie Bucher (1846–1929). She attended upper secondary school at Kongsgård in Stavanger, after which she traveled to London. She made her debut at the newly established Stavanger Faste Scene (later Rogaland Teater) in 1914. She was mainly employed at the Norwegian Theater in Oslo, where with humour and irony she specialized as a character comedian. She also acted in movies from 1920 to 1967.
