Ó HAonghusa
Ó hAonghusa is the surname of at least two distinct Gaelic-Irish families. It is now anglicised as Hennessy and Hennessey. One Ó hAonghusa family were located at Cill Bheagáin, in the Kingdom of Uà Failghe, in the Irish midlands. Another family surnamed Ó hAonghusa were found at Ros Ailithir, in the Kingdom of Desmond. It is from this family that the founder of Hennessy brandy, Richard Hennessy of Killavulen, by Mallow, and Cognac (1720–1800), descended. Richard's descendants, Maurice Hennessy and his cousin Kilian Hennessy (1907–2010), were business magnates and patriarchs of the Hennessy cognac company. According to historian C. Thomas Cairney, the O'Hennessys were one of the chiefly families of the Corca Laoghdne tribe who in turn came from the Erainn tribe who were the second wave of Celts to settle in Ireland from 500 to 100 BC. Gwen Hennessey
Gwen Hennessey, O.S.F., (born 1932) is a Roman Catholic Franciscan Sister and peace activist, most widely known for her protests against the School of the Americas. Biography Hennessey was born on September 29, 1932, on a farm in Buchanan County, Iowa. Her parents were Anna Killias Hennessey and Maurice Hennessey. She was the thirteenth of fifteen children born to her parents. Their parents modeled generosity to the poor, sheltering tramps who needed food during the depression. Several of Hennessey's siblings would go on to have religious vocations. Her older sisters Dorothy and Miriam became Franciscan nuns, and her brother Ron Hennessey became a priest. ''The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou'' is a 2004 American adventure comedy-drama film written by Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach and directed by Anderson. It is Anderson's fourth feature-length film and was released in the United States on December 25, 2004. David Hennessy
David C. Hennessy (1858 – October 16, 1890) was a police chief of New Orleans, Louisiana. As a young detective, he made headlines in 1881 when he captured a notorious Italian criminal, Giuseppe Esposito. In 1888, he was promoted to superintendent and chief of police. While in office he made a number of improvements to the force, and was well known and respected in the New Orleans community. His assassination in 1890 led to a sensational trial. A series of acquittals and mistrials angered locals, and an enormous mob formed outside the prison the next day. The prison doors were forced open and 11 of the 19 Italian men who had been indicted for Hennessy's murder were lynched. Wayne Robert Hennessey (born 24 January 1987) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Nottingham Forest and the Wales national team. William Terrence Hennessey (born 1 September 1942) is a Welsh former international footballer who gained 39 caps for Wales. He played as a defender and made 400 Football League appearances in the 1960s and 1970s with Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest and Derby County. The kingdom of Uà Fháilghe, ''Uà Failge'' (early spelling) or ''UÃbh FhailÃ'' (modern spelling) () was a Gaelic-Irish kingdom which existed to 1550, the name of which (though not the territory) is preserved in the name of County Offaly (Irish: Contae UÃbh FhailÃ), Ireland. County Offaly was constructed from elements of a number of ancient Irish Kingdoms of which Uà Failghe was one amongst such as Mide (present day west Offaly) and Munster (present day south Offaly). In modern territorial boundaries the kingdom today would correspond with County Offaly east of Tullamore, western parts of Kildare and parts of north east Laois.
