Henley Rowing Club is a rowing (sport), rowing club on the River Thames based on Wargrave Road, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. History The club was founded in 1839. The club were the Victor Ludorum champions at the 2014 British Rowing Junior Championships, 2016 British Rowing Junior Championships, 2017 British Rowing Junior Championships and 2018 British Rowing Junior Championships. Henley-on-Thames
Henley-on-Thames ( ) is a town and civil parish on the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England, northeast of Reading, west of Maidenhead, southeast of Oxford and west of London (by road), near the tripoint of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. The population at the 2011 Census was 11,619. History Henley does not appear in Domesday Book of 1086; often it is mistaken for ''Henlei'' in the book which is in Surrey. There is archaeological evidence of people residing in Henley since the second century as part of the Romano-British period. The first record of Henley as a substantial settlement is from 1179, when it is recorded that King Henry II "had bought land for the making of buildings". King John granted the manor of Benson and the town and manor of Henley to Robert Harcourt in 1199. A church at Henley is first mentioned in 1204. 2010 British Rowing Championships
The 2010 British Rowing Championships were the 39th edition of the National Championships, held from 16–18 July 2010 at the Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. They were organised and sanctioned by British Rowing, and are open to British rowers. The 2010 regatta was notable by the very poor turn out by the country's top clubs, especially in the elite men's events. The men's coxed fours had only three entries, two of which withdrew before the final, leaving London Rowing Club to row over. The same crew also won the men's coxless fours, and the men's open eights which was a straight final, where London combined with four members of the clubs lightweight squad.
