Henk Van Der Meijden
Henk van der Meijden (born 26 June 1937, in The Hague, Netherlands) is a Dutch journalist and producer of theater and circus acts. Known as the "godfather" of Dutch gossip journalism, he founded a weekly gossip magazine, Privé, and edits the gossip pages of '' De Telegraaf''. Biography Henk van der Meijden grew up in Bezuidenhout, a neighborhood of The Hague, as the elder of two in a working-class family. At age 16 he started writing children's stories for the publication ''Het Vaderland'', an evening daily. For the '' Haagsch Dagblad'' he reported on social events and funerals, and after finishing his secondary education became an apprentice journalist at the '' Nieuwe Haagsche Courant'', where he got his own column. He wrote short stories for other publications and in the 1960s also wrote for the women's magazines '' Margriet'' and '' Libelle''. Scheveningen
Scheveningen is one of the eight districts of The Hague, Netherlands, as well as a subdistrict (''wijk'') of that city. Scheveningen is a modern seaside resort with a long, sandy beach, an esplanade, a pier, and a lighthouse. The beach is popular for water sports such as windsurfing and kiteboarding. The harbour is used for both fishing and tourism. History The earliest reference to the name ''Sceveninghe'' goes back to around 1280. The first inhabitants may have been Anglo-Saxons. The Circustheater ''(AFAS Circustheater)'' is a musical theatre in The Hague, owned and operated by Stage Entertainment. History The theatre dates back to 1904, when it was designed by ''Wilhelmus Barnardus van Liefland'' and was built to house ''Circus Schumann'' during the summer season. When the publics interest in the circus declined, the theatre was transformed in 1964 to a regular theater to house concerts among others. Over the following decades the theatre started to deteriorate. Joop van den Ende, Stardust B.V. and Xelat Recrea B.V. acquired the theatre from the municipality of The Hague for the symbolic amount of ƒ 1,-. Johannes "Joop" Adrianus van den Ende (born 23 February 1942) is a Dutch theatrical producer, co-founder of international television production company Endemol and founder/owner of Stage Entertainment, Europe's largest live entertainment company.
