Henk Kummeling
Hendrikus Rutgerus Bernardus Maria (Henk) Kummeling (born 10 January 1961 in Pannerden) is a Dutch professor of law. From 2005 until 2016 he was chair of the Dutch National Electoral Council. Since 2018 he is rector of Utrecht University. Kummeling studied law at the Radboud University Nijmegen where he obtained a PhD in 1988 under the supervision of Constantijn Kortmann. He worked as a scientist at the Radboud University Nijmegen and Utrecht University. In 1994 he was appointed parttime professor of Constitutional Law and Administrative Law at Tilburg University. In 1995 he was appointed full professor of Constitutional Law and Comparative Constitutional Law at Utrecht University, where he was dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance from 2008 until 2014. Pannerden
Pannerden is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Zevenaar. Pannerden was a separate municipality from 1818 to 1985, when it became a part of the new municipality of Rijnwaarden. History The village was first mentioned between 1052 and 1056 as Pannardum. The etymology is unclear. The village developed along the Rhine. In 1284, it became part of the Duchy of Cleves. Between 1705 and 1707, the Pannerdens Kanaal to control the water flow between the Rhine and the Waal. In 1817, Pannerden became part of the Netherlands. In 1840, it was home to 507 people. In 1860, the postal authorities split the village in Pannerden (Oostzijde) and Pannerden (Westzijde) because it was cut in two by the canal. Since around 1970, it is once again a single village. Rector (academia)
A rector (Latin for 'ruler') is a senior official in an educational institution, and can refer to an official in either a university or a secondary school. Outside the English-speaking world the rector is often the most senior official in a university, whilst in the United States the most senior official is often referred to as president and in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth of Nations the most senior official is the chancellor, whose office is primarily ceremonial and titular. Constantijn Kortmann
Constantinus Albertus Josephus Maria "Constantijn" Kortmann (14 March 1944 – 24 January 2016) was a Dutch professor of constitutional law. Kortmann was born in Groesbeek. In 1967, he obtained his doctoral’s degree in Dutch Law at the Catholic University of Nijmegen. In 1964, he studied the French language for half a year at the Institut Catholique in Paris, France. After his degree he pursued his study of the French language, as well as French public law, for another year at the University of Poitiers. In 1976, he obtained his doctor's degree (master) at the Catholic University of Nijmegen. From 1976 to 1981, Kortmann was a professor of Dutch and comparative constitutional law at the University of Amsterdam, since 1981 he has been a professor of constitutional law and general political science.
