A Scottish clan (from Goidelic languages, Gaelic , literally 'children', more broadly 'kindred') is a kinship group among the Scottish people. Clans give a sense of shared identity and descent to members, and in modern times have an official structure recognised by the Court of the Lord Lyon, which regulates Scottish heraldry and coats of arms. Most clans have their own tartan patterns, usually dating from the 19th century, which members may incorporate into kilts or other clothing. Thomas Hendrie (born 24 October 1955) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager. Playing career A midfielder, Hendrie plied his trade at a number of clubs in the late 1970s, Dundee, Arbroath, Gateshead and Goole Town before settling at Meadowbank Thistle in 1980. Here he made 335 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals before leaving to join Berwick Rangers in 1992. Managerial career Hendrie became manager of Berwick in January 1994 and in his first season he took them to second place in the Second Division, narrowly missing out on promotion due to league reconstruction. In 1996, he moved to Alloa Athletic and he took them to the Third Division championship in 1998. Stuart Scott Hendrie (born 1 November 1989) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays for side Walsall Wood, as a striker. He previously played for a number of non-League clubs in the Midlands area, and made seven appearances in the Football League for Morecambe. As a youngster, he played in midfield, later developing into a striker. John Hendrie (born 11 June 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the VFL during the 1970s. Hendrie attended Scotch College, Melbourne from 1968 to 1971 and was a member of the first XVIII for three years, being vice-captain of the premiership winning side in his final year of school.
