Hendersonville High School (Tennessee)
Hendersonville High School is one of three public high schools located in Hendersonville, Sumner County, Tennessee. The principal is Bob Cotter, a former principal for the alternative school, R.T. Fisher, and Hawkins Middle School. It is part of Sumner County Schools. Two middle schools feed into Hendersonville High: Ellis Middle School and Hawkins Middle School. The school's colors have been black and gold ever since the first Commando football team in 1941, when the Vanderbilt University football program provided the first Commando football team with older, used jerseys. The black and gold colors have remained ever since. Hendersonville is known as the Commandos because 54 men were sent to fight in World War II. When they came back as veteran commandos the name stuck with the school and became the official mascot. Hendersonville is the largest city in Sumner County, Tennessee, on Old Hickory Lake. The population was 61,753 at the 2020 census. Hendersonville is the fourth-largest city in the Nashville metropolitan area after Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Franklin and the 10th largest in Tennessee. Hendersonville is located 18 miles northeast of downtown Nashville. The city was settled around 1784 by Daniel Smith, whose house Rock Castle, completed in 1796, is maintained as an historic site. He is the co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project Major Lazer, a member of the supergroup LSD with Sia and Labrinth, a member of electronic duo Jack Ü with producer and DJ Skrillex, and a member of Silk City with Mark Ronson. Lennon Murphy
Lennon Anne Murphy (born March 31, 1982) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. Early life Murphy, who is named after musician John Lennon, was born in Ronkonkoma, New York. When she was four years old, Murphy and her mother moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee, where she began playing piano and writing songs at the age of nine. At the age of 15, Lennon started performing shows at various local Nashville establishments. With much critical acclaim from the Nashville music community came interest from several record companies. Lennon ultimately signed to Arista Records at the age of 18. Within days of her 18th birthday, Murphy arrived home from school to find her mother dead. Steven Fox (golfer)
Steven Fox (born January 14, 1991) is an American professional golfer who won the 2012 U.S. Amateur. Fox was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Fox won the 2012 U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills Country Club on the 37th hole after being down two with two holes to play. Fox was the 63rd player to qualify for match play. He had to survive a 17-man playoff for 14 spots in stroke play to qualify for the match play of the U.S. Amateur. With the win, Fox qualified for the 2013 Masters Tournament, 2013 U.S. Open, and 2013 Open Championship where he missed the cut at all three events. Jack DeWayne Dotson (born June 10, 1971) is a former American football linebacker and fullback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Miami Dolphins. He was drafted in the fourth round (131st overall) of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the Nashville Kats in the Arena Football League (AFL).
