Henderson Family
William Henderson (February 26, 1837 – September 24, 1931) was a Scottish-born architect who mainly worked in Canada. He was the Resident Architect for the Department of Public Works in British Columbia. Life and career Henderson was born in Lonmay, Aberdeenshire, to a family of architects. He became a stone cutter at the age of 13, and in 1857, he emigrated to Canada. In 1861 he moved back to Scotland, where he married his first wife, Mary Jane Smith. They had three children together, including Stuart Alexander Henderson and Gordon Smith Henderson. In 1872 he moved back to Ottawa as an overseer for the Federal department of public works in Canada. Henderson remained in government until 1887, when he started his own general construction business. During this time, he completed independent commissions for new buildings in Regina and Qu'Appelle. Aberdeenshire
Aberdeenshire ( sco, Aiberdeenshire; gd, Siorrachd Obar Dheathain) is one of the 32 Subdivisions of Scotland#council areas of Scotland, council areas of Scotland. It takes its name from the County of Aberdeen which has substantially different boundaries. The Aberdeenshire Council area includes all of the area of the Counties of Scotland, historic counties of Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire (except the area making up the City of Aberdeen), as well as part of Banffshire. New Westminster (colloquially known as New West) is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. It was founded by Major-General Richard Moody as the capital of the Colony of British Columbia in 1858 and continued in that role until the Mainland and Island colonies were merged in 1866. Stuart Robert Henderson is a Canadian historian, culture critic, filmmaker, and musician. He is a writer and producer with 90th Parallel Productions, a documentary film company. He is the author of the Clio award-winning book ''Making the Scene, Yorkville and Hip Toronto in the 1960s'' (University of Toronto Press, 2011). Gordon Henderson is a Canadian documentary film producer, director, writer, and chairman of his production company, 90th Parallel Productions. Henderson has directed, written, or produced hundreds of films over his career. His films have been nominated for 10 Geminis, winning two, and In 2023 he received the Canadian Screen Award for Best Factual Series. Henderson has a reputation for running one of Toronto's most successful production houses. Career Henderson began his career as a Global TV parliamentary correspondent. Joan Parkins (October 4, 1922 – June 1, 2013) was a Canadian figure skater. She chose not to go professional and instead married Gordon F. Henderson. Biography Parkins was born on October 4, 1922, and she went into figure skating at an early age. William Head Institution
William Head Institution is a Canadian minimum-security federal correctional institution for men located in Metchosin, British Columbia, about southwest of Victoria on the southernmost tip of Vancouver Island. The Institution opened in 1959 and can house 200 inmates. Inmates live in 5 units of eight groups/duplexes. William Head uses an individual approach focused on basic programs. Lethbridge ( ) is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada. With a population of 101,482 in its 2019 Alberta municipal censuses, 2019 municipal census, Lethbridge became the fourth Alberta city to surpass 100,000 people. Alexander Mackenzie (politician)
Alexander Mackenzie (January 28, 1822 – April 17, 1892) was a Canadian politician who served as the second prime minister of Canada, in office from 1873 to 1878. Mackenzie was born in Logierait, Perthshire, Scotland. He left school at the age of 13, following his father's death to help his widowed mother, and trained as a stonemason. Mackenzie immigrated to Canada when he was 19, settling in what became Ontario. His masonry business prospered, allowing him to pursue other interests – such as the editorship of a pro-Reformist newspaper called the'' Lambton Shield''. Mackenzie was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada in 1862, as a supporter of George Brown.
