Henderson Waves
Henderson Waves is a pedestrian bridge crossing Henderson Road in the Southern Ridges in Singapore. The bridge is one of two pedestrian bridges part of the walking trail connecting the Southern Ridges with Mount Faber along with Alexandra Arch, and is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. The sun-shading, curved, wooden ribs are illuminated at night. History Plans for two new pedestrian bridges in the Southern Ridges were first announced in 2002 as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority's plan to enhance the unique qualities of selected areas. A competition was launched by the Urban Redevelopment Authority to seek designs for both bridges, with the design by Singaporean architectural firm RSP Architects Planners & Engineers and IJP Architects being selected as the design for the bridge travelling over Henderson Road. Southern Ridges
The Southern Ridges comprise of trails connecting three parks along the southern ridge of Singapore. Some of the attractions along these trails include its greenery and the connecting bridges. This project linked up the parks between the Kent Ridge Park and HarbourFront. The idea to link these parks was coined in 2002 by Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and it took 2 years to complete and cost S$25.5 million. Parks There are 3 parks that are connected to each other: Mount Faber, Telok Blangah Hill Park and the Kent Ridge Park. Mount Faber Park Mount Faber Park is one of the oldest parks in Singapore and a popular tourist destination. The park is connected to Telok Blangah Hill Park by Henderson Waves bridge. Telok Blangah Hill Park
Telok Blangah Hill Park is a park situated at Telok Blangah Green, off Henderson Road, in Bukit Merah. It connects Mount Faber Park via Henderson Waves Bridge (274m, 899ft). Standing at 36m (118ft) above Henderson Road, it is the tallest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. Henderson Waves is renowned for its artistic, distinctive wave-like structure consisting of a series of undulating curved 'ribs'. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is the national urban planning authority of Singapore, and a statutory board under the Ministry of National Development of the Government of Singapore. Mission The authority was established on 1 April 1974, and is of critical importance to the city-state. Lee Hsien Loong
Lee Hsien Loong (; born 10 February 1952) is a Singaporean politician and former brigadier-general who has been serving as Prime Minister of Singapore and Secretary-General of the People's Action Party since 2004. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Teck Ghee division of Ang Mo Kio GRC since 1991, and previously Teck Ghee SMC between 1984 and 1991.
