Assam Legislative Assembly
The Assam Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Assam. It is housed in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, geographically situated in present Western Assam region. The Legislative Assembly comprises 126 Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. Its term is five years, unless sooner dissolved. Dip Gogoi
Dip Gogoi ( as, দীপ গগৈ; born 17 December 1951) is an Indian politician who was a Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha. He represents the Kaliabor constituency in Assam and is a member of the Indian National Congress. Background Dip Gogoi is a brother of Tarun Gogoi who was former chief minister of Assam. Asom Gana Parishad (translation: ''Assam People's Council'', AGP) is a state political party in Assam, India. The AGP was formed after the historic Assam Accord of 1985 and formally launched at the Golaghat Convention held from 13–14 October 1985 in Golaghat, that let Prafulla Kumar Mahanta to be elected as the youngest chief minister of the state. The AGP has formed government twice from 1985 to 1989 and from 1996 to 2001.
