Hello America (song)
"Hello America" is a 1980 song by the English rock band Def Leppard from their debut album, ''On Through the Night''. The lyrics and title of the song are about the fantasies the band had about touring in America. Background The single’s B-side, “Good Morning Freedom” has only been released on cd in 2018 on the rareties volume one cd which was part of the CD Collection Part One boxset. The song was featured on a BBC studio session recorded in 1979 and the show has since been bootlegged. A live version of the song is also included on '' Viva! Hysteria'', released in October 2013, although Def Leppard have all but disowned ''On Through the Night'' and “Hello America” was one of the first songs to leave the setlist, having never been played live since the release of ''High 'n' Dry''. Def Leppard
Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in 1976 in Sheffield. Since 1992, the band has consisted of Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Joe Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Allen (drums, backing vocals), Phil Collen (guitar, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (guitar, backing vocals). They established themselves as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement of the early 1980s. The band's greatest commercial success came between the early 1980s and the early 1990s. ''Viva! Hysteria'' is a double live album by the English rock band Def Leppard released on the 22 October 2013. The album was recorded on 29 and 30 March 2013 during the band's residency of the same name at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (Las Vegas). Content The first disc, taken from the band's 30 March performance, contains all 12 tracks from Def Leppard's 1987 album ''Hysteria'', followed by an encore of two hits from their 1983 album '' Pyromania'', which were "Rock of Ages" and "Photograph." The second disc has a selection of deeper cuts, many of which the band had not played in many years or even decades prior to the residency. The band performed the songs on the second disc under the alias Ded Flatbird as the "opening act" for the show, before playing all the songs on the ''Hysteria'' album as Def Leppard later in the night. Rick Allen (drummer)
Richard John Cyril Allen (born 1 November 1963) is an English drummer who has played for the hard rock band Def Leppard since 1978. He overcame the amputation of his left arm in January 1985 and continued to play with the band, which went on to its most commercially successful phase. He is known as "The Thunder God" by fans. He is ranked No. 7 on the UK website Gigwise in ''The Greatest Drummers of All Time'' list. Early life Rick Allen was born on 1 November 1963 in Dronfield, Derbyshire to Geoffrey Allen and Kathleen Moore, and started playing drums at the age of nine. He performed in the bands Grad, Smokey Blue, Rampant, and the Johnny Kalendar Band. Peter Andrew Willis (born 16 February 1960) is an English musician, songwriter and guitarist, best known as a founding member of the band Def Leppard. He co-wrote many tracks and played guitar on the band's first three albums: ''On Through the Night'', ''High 'n' Dry'', and ''Pyromania'', which was being recorded at the time of his departure. He was fired from Def Leppard in 1982 and replaced by Phil Collen. In 2019, Willis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Def Leppard.
