Helle Thorborg
Helle Thorborg (born 12 April 1927) is a Danish painter and graphic designer. In her colour graphics, she uses strong contrasts creating images resembling collages. She has decorated a number of Danish buildings, including the pulpit in Gimsing Church near Struer, and has designed scenery for the Folketeatret's experimental stage. Early life and education Born on 12 April 1927 in Gentofte, Helle Thorborg was the daughter of the parliamentary secretary Johannes Levinsen Thorborg (1896–1992) and Grete Fog (1903–1993). She was brought up in an academic environment. Despite the scepticism of her family, she was set on becoming an artist. From 1947 to 1954, she attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, studying painting and graphics under Aksel Jørgensen and Holger J. Jensen. Toldbodgade 9
Toldbodgade 9 is a half-timbered building situated in the Nyhavn, Nyhavn Quarter of central Copenhagen, Denmark. For about 50 years, from the 1800s until his death in 1852, the property belonged to Henning Hansen Rønne, a skipper from Bornholm, who for a period was alderman of the Københavns Skipperforening, Skipper's Guild in Copenhagen. The building was later for a while operated as a hotel under the name Hotel Helsingborg. The building was listed in the Listed buildings in Copenhagen Municipality, Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918. In 1953, the building was bought by art dealer , who subsequently converted it into an art gallery under the name Claussens Kunsthandel. Kongens Lyngby (, Danish for "the King's Heather Town"; short form Lyngby) is the seat and commercial centre of Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. Anne Marie Telmányi
Anne Marie Frederikke Telmányi née Nielsen (1893–1983) was a Danish painter and writer. In addition to landscapes and mythological subjects, she is remembered in particular for her portraits of important figures of the times. Her writings include a biography of her mother, Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen, who was also an artist. Her father was the composer Carl Nielsen and her husband was the Hungarian violinist Emil Telmányi. Telmányi began playing the violin at a young age and quickly demonstrated her talent. She went on to study at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and later in Berlin with Carl Flesch. Anne Marie Frederikke Telmányi was an accomplished violinist and teacher who made significant contributions to the classical music world. Tagea Brandt Rejselegat
The Tagea Brandts ''Rejselegat'' (Travel Scholarship) is a Danish award to women who have made a significant contribution in science, literature or art. The grant, which is given without application, was created and endowed by Danish industrialist Vilhelm Brandt (1854–1921) in 1905 in honor of his wife, Tagea Brandt. It is awarded annually on 17 March, her birthday. The charter of 1922 provides that it shall be given to outstanding women in science, art, music, literature and theater arts (particularly in this case to actresses at the Royal Danish Theatre). The intent is for the awardee to both broaden her horizons while promoting Danish society abroad, and to benefit from vacation and rest time. The first scholarships were given in 1924; the first time the amount was DKK 10.000, in 1958 it was increased to DKK 15.000, in 1967 to 25.000, later to 50,000, and currently it is DKK 75.000, which usually is given to 2-3 women annually.
