Hell Yeah! (HorrorPops Album)
''Hell Yeah!'' is the debut album of Danish psychobilly band HorrorPops, released February 10, 2004. The first seven tracks of the album were recorded in 1999 at Ventura Recordings. This was intended as a press kit only demo, however it was somehow copied and circulated leading to the tracks "Ghouls" and "Psychobitches Outta Hell" becoming a hit on the Copenhagen club circuit. The further six tracks making up the album were not recorded until 2003, again at Ventura Recordings. It was these 13 tracks that impressed Hellcat Records to the point of signing the band. Psychobilly
Psychobilly is a rock music fusion genre that fuses elements of rockabilly and punk rock. It's been defined as "loud frantic rockabilly music", it has also been said that it "takes the traditional countrified rock style known as rockabilly, ramp ngup its speed to a sweaty pace, and combin ngit with punk rock and imagery lifted from horror films and late-night sci-fi schlock,... reating agritty honky tonk punk rock." Psychobilly is often characterized by lyrical references to science fiction, horror (leading to lyrical similarities to horror punk) and exploitation films, violence, lurid sexuality, and other topics generally considered taboo, though often presented in a comedic or tongue-in-cheek fashion. Rockabilly
Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music. It dates back to the early 1950s in the United States, especially the Southern United States, South. As a genre it blends the sound of Western music (North America), Western musical styles such as country music, country with that of rhythm and blues, leading to what is considered "classic" rock and roll. Hellcat Records
Hellcat Records is an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. The label, an offshoot of Epitaph Records, was started as a partnership between Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion, the owner of Epitaph, and Tim Armstrong of Rancid, who was generally responsible for signing bands. Hellcat published its ''Give 'Em the Boot'' label sampler in multiple volumes starting in 1997. Films In 2005, a ''Give 'Em the Boot'' DVD was released, featuring tour footage of numerous Hellcat bands. On January 15, 2006, the label released ''Live Freaky! History 1996–1999: Formation Band founders Patricia Day and Kim Nekroman first met when Day's now-defunct band, the punk rock group Peanut Pump Gun, opened for Nekroman's psychobilly band, Nekromantix, at the POPKOM festival in Cologne, Germany in 1996.
