Helgeland Museum
The Helgeland Museum is a group of 18 museums and collections of buildings in 18 municipalities in Helgeland, Norway. The concept of the museum is to distribute the museum's expertise across Helgeland. This allows people with special professional skills to work for all of the museums in this collaboration. The Helgeland Museum has about 49 permanent employees. Its administrative office is on '' Sjøgata'' (Sea Street) in Mosjøen. Vefsn Museum
Vefsn ( sma, Vaapste) is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. Lurøy is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lurøy, located on the island of Lurøya. Grønsvik Coastal Battery
Grønsvik coastal artillery battery (HKB 16/974 Grönsviken) at Helgeland in Norway, was a Wehrmacht, German army coastal artillery battery, built between 1942 and 1945 as one of ten coastal batteries in Artillery group Sandnessjöen (Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Regiment 974). The coastal battery is today a museum whose purpose is to show the public that the Atlantic Wall in Norway was a lot more than the big naval batteries one can find scattered along the coast. Out of a total of 280 coastal batteries at the end of the war, 210 were army batteries armed with army guns and manned by army personnel and only 70 were naval batteries. The main task of the artillery group Sandnessjöen was to defend the fjords Sjona, Ranfjord and Vefsnfjorden against an Allies of World War II, allied invasion. Herøy Open Air Museum
The Herøy Open Air Museum ( no, Herøy bygdesamling) is a museum at the Herøy Parsonage on the island of Sør-Herøy in Nordland county, Norway. The museum is owned by the Herøy Historical Society (''Herøy Historielag'') and the Norwegian Church Endowment (''Opplysningsvesenets fond, Ovf'') but is operated by the Helgeland Museum. The museum focuses on local cultural history and the history of civil service in the region, and it has a collection numbering over 15,000 items. A collection of historical photographs is part of the museum. In addition to its permanent exhibit, the museum also has rotating exhibits presenting art and cultural history. Helgeland is the most southerly district in Northern Norway. Generally speaking, Helgeland refers to the part of Nordland county that is located south of the Arctic Circle.
