Helga Krause
Helga Krause (1 September 1935 in Dresden – 17 January 1989 in Teltow) was a German film editor. Life and work Helga Krause worked from 1953 to 1987 as an editor for the film company DEFA in the former German Democratic Republic. First, she worked from 1953 to 1956 in numerous pioneering monthly newsreels, which were shown in cinemas before the main feature. In 1962, she edited her first DEFA feature film, ''Freispruch mangels Beweises''. In total, she was responsible for the editing of almost 40 feature films in her career including some television films on the German television network (Deutscher Fernsehfunk, DFF). The most important works in which Krause was involved include the literary film adaptation of ''Der teilte Himmel'' (1964, director: Konrad Wolf), as well as the films forbidden by the state censorship ''Das Kaninchen bin ich'' (1965, Director: Kurt Maetzig) and ''Denk bloß nicht, ich heule'' (1965, Director: Frank Vogel). Renate Müller (26 April 1906 – 7 October 1937) was a German singer and actress in both silent films and sound films, as well as on stage. One of the most successful actresses in German films from the early 1930s, she was courted by the Nazi Party to appear in films that promoted their ideals, but refused. Her sudden death at the age of 31 was initially attributed to epilepsy, but after the end of World War II, some commentators asserted that she was in fact murdered by Gestapo officers, others that she committed suicide. The true circumstances of her death remain unknown. Life and career Born in Munich, Germany, Müller entered films in 1929 in Berlin, and quickly became popular. Hans-Joachim Kasprzik (14 August 1928 – 10 October 1997) was a German film and television director and screenwriter. He worked with DEFA and Deutscher Fernsehfunk in East Germany. Career Hans-Joachim Kasprzik was born in Beuthen. After the war, he attended a training programrun by the newly created DEFARalf Schenk"Rolf Herricht in Hände hoch oder ich schieße"(PDF) DEFA Stiftung (March 2009). Hans Kratzert
Hans Kratzert (3 February 1940 – 15 August 2023) was a German screenwriter and film director. Kratzert was born in Heerwegen in the Province of Silesia during the Second World War. He was part of the mass emigration of Germans westward following Nazi Germany's defeat during the war. Kratzert's family settled in the Soviet-occupied territory that became East Germany, where he grew up. After military service, Kratzert began working at DEFA, the state-owned East German film company. After making his directorial debut in 1968, Kratzert went on to direct a further thirteen films up to 1989. He made a number of family films, and in 1972 directed the Red Western ''Tecumseh'' (1972), a biopic of the Native American leader of the same name. The fall of the Berlin Wall and the closure of DEFA effectively ended his career as a film director. Kratzert died on 15 August 2023, at the age of 83.
