Helena Svensson (golfer)
Helena Svensson (born 21 March 1979) is a retired Swedish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. She won the 2001 European Ladies' Team Championship and the 2003 Acer South African Women's Open. Career As an amateur, Svensson was part of the National Team and represented Sweden at the 1999 European Ladies' Team Championship where her team finished fifth, and again in 2001 when she won together with teammates Kristina Engström, Anna Gertsson, Mikaela Parmlid, Nina Reis and Linda Wessberg. She again represented her country at the 2002 Espirito Santo Trophy, together with Karin Sjödin and Mikaela Parmlid. Svensson finished runner-up at the 2002 Kalmar Ladies Open on the Swedish Golf Tour, after losing a playoff to Australian Susie Mathews. Mathews won after eight playoff holes, while home player Åsa Gottmo was eliminated after four. The Swedish Golf Federation ( sv, Svenska Golfförbundet, SGF) is the governing body for the sport of golf in Sweden, founded in 1904. The federation is responsible for administering the Rules of Golf, as laid down by The R&A, at the national level. It organizes tournaments, manages the national teams, and promotes the game. As of 2022, the federation organized 448 golf clubs and 505,577 individual members with 536 203 memberships, 74.4% male and 25.6% female. 2002 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 2002 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 16–19 October at Saujana Golf and Country Club, on its Palm Course and Bunga Raya Course, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was the 20th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event. There were 39 team entries, each with two or three players. Each team played two rounds at the Palm Course and two rounds at the Bunga Raya Course in different orders, but the 21 leading teams played the fourth round at the Palm Course. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. The Australia team won the Trophy for their second title, their first since 1978. The 2001 European Ladies' Team Championship took place in 10–14 July at Campo de Golf de Meis in the province of Pontevedra, . It was the 22nd women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting public course, in the municipality Meis, 60 kilometres north-east of the city of Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, opened its 18 holes in 2000.
