Helena Hauff
Helena Hauff is a German DJ and record producer based in Hamburg, Germany. She is known for her "stripped-down techno and electro tracks" that are recorded using strictly analog equipment and draws influences from acid house, EBM and industrial music. Hauff, who has studied fine art, physics and systematic music science, previously worked as a DJ at Hamburg's Golden Pudel Club, where she hosted a night called Birds and Other Instruments. She released her debut record, ''Actio Reactio'' EP, in 2013. Following a series of releases from various different labels, including James Dean Brown's Hypnobeat record label, she released her debut full-length album, '' Discreet Desires'', through Werkdiscs records in 2015. The album was listed as number 19 on ''Rolling Stone''s list of "20 Best EDM and Electronic Albums of 2015." Qualm (album)
''Qualm'' is the second studio album by German electronic music DJ and record producer Helena Hauff. It was released on 3 August 2018 by Ninja Tune. The album was critically acclaimed and the track "Hyper-Intelligent Genetically Enriched Cyborg" was named as one of the best electronic tracks of 2018 by ''Pitchfork''. In comparison to her previous album, '' Discreet Desires'' (2015), the tracks on it had more traditional song structure and they were "more poppier." Production While creating the album, Hauff used one synthesizer, which was Roland TR-808, and one drum machine. Title The title has multiple definitions. The German meaning of "qualm" is "smoke" or "fumes", as in English language, it is "an uneasy feeling of doubt, worry, or fear." Stephen Lee Bruner (born October 19, 1984), better known by his stage name Thundercat, is an American bass guitarist, singer, producer, and songwriter from Los Angeles. Tangerine Dream is a German electronic music band founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. The group has seen many personnel changes over the years, with Froese having been the only constant member until his death in January 2015. Kieran Hebden (born September 1977), known as Four Tet, is an English electronic musician. He came to prominence as a member of the post-rock band Fridge before establishing himself as a solo artist with charting UK albums such as '' Rounds'' (2003) and ''Everything Ecstatic'' (2005). Midland is a British DJ, producer and record label owner based in London, UK. Real name Harry Agius, he founded his label Graded in 2013 as an output for his own productions. Modeselektor
Modeselektor is a German electronic music duo consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. History The group members met in 1992 in Berlin with group member Szary performing live acid house music at illegal underground parties, under the moniker Fundamental Knowledge. Ali Shirazinia ( fa, علی شیرازی‌نیا), commonly known by his stage name Dubfire, is an Iranian American house and techno DJ and producer.
