Helen of Troy, Helen, Helena, (Ancient Greek: Ἑλένη ''Helénē'', ) also known as beautiful Helen, Helen of Argos, or Helen of Sparta, was a figure in Greek mythology said to have been the most beautiful woman in the world. She was believed to have been the daughter of Zeus and Leda, and was the sister of Clytemnestra, Castor and Pollux, Philonoe, Phoebe and Timandra. She was married to King Menelaus of Sparta "who became by her the father of Hermione, and, according to others, of Nicostratus also." The usual tradition is that after the goddess Aphrodite promised her to Paris in the Judgement of Paris, she was seduced by him and carried off to Troy. This resulted in the Trojan War when the Achaeans set out to reclaim her. Helen Wellington-Lloyd
Helen Wellington-Lloyd, also called Helen of Troy, is an actress originally from South Africa. She is most notable for being a follower of punk band Sex Pistols in the late 1970s, attending most of their shows until their breakup. She was also one-time lover and later protégé of Malcolm McLaren. Wellington-Lloyd originated the first Sex Pistols "blackmail" typography for flyers and gig posters on the floor of her flat. She appeared in Derek Jarman's film ''Jubilee'' (1977) and ''The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle'', by Julien Temple (1980). Little is known of her whereabouts since the release of ''The Swindle'', except that on 20 September 2001, she auctioned her extensive collection of Sex Pistols memorabilia at Sotheby's in West Kensington, London. ''Helen of Troy'' is the sixth solo studio album by Welsh rock musician John Cale, released in November 1975. It was the last of his three studio albums for Island Records. Content During the sessions for ''Helen of Troy'', Cale recorded two cover versions, the Ann Ronell standard "Willow Weep for Me" and the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows", both of which went unreleased. Another unused track, "Mary Lou", was released in 1977 on the compilation album ''Guts''. The album includes a cover of "Pablo Picasso" originally by the Modern Lovers, a song which Cale had produced for the band's eponymous debut album. At that time the Modern Lovers' version was still unreleased. Cale re-recorded "I Keep a Close Watch" in 1982 for his eighth solo studio album '' Music for a New Society''. The cover has a photograph of Cale by Keith Morris. Cale's trousers were given to him by Judy Nylon who had acquired them from fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. ''Helen of Troy'' is an 1898 painting by Evelyn De Morgan depicting Helen of Troy; it was commissioned by William Imrie of Liverpool. ''Helen of Troy'' is a 2003 British-American television miniseries based upon Homer's story of the Trojan War, as recounted in the epic poem, ''Iliad''. The series was entirely shot on location in Malta. Plot The film begins with the birth of Paris, and Cassandra's prophecy that he would be the cause of Troy's destruction. Paris' father, King Priam, leaves him on Mount Ida, where he is raised by the shepherd Agelaus. ''English Electric'' is the twelfth studio album by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), and their second since the 2006 reformation of the group. Preceded by lead single "Metroland" on 25 March 2013, it was released on 5 April by 100% Records. ''Solar Power'' is the third studio album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde. It was released on 20 August 2021, by Universal Music New Zealand. Lorde wrote and produced the album with American musician Jack Antonoff, with whom she also worked on her second studio album, ''Melodrama'' (2017).
