Helen Pickett
Helen Pickett is an American choreographer for stage and film, and has been described as “one of the few prominent women in ballet today”. Early life and education Pickett was raised in San Francisco, California. Her mother is a retired periodontist and agricultural biologist, and her father is an author. She started ballet at eight years old, receiving dance training at California Ballet, the Ballet Society of San Diego, and San Francisco Ballet School. Pickett attended Lowell High School in San Francisco and earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance from Hollins University in 2011. Performing career In 1987, Pickett joined William Forsythe’s Frankfurt Ballet, where she performed until 1998. She was an original cast member in many of Forsythe’s seminal works throughout her career, including her speaking role, Agnes, in ''Impressing the Czar'' in 2005. Semperoper
The Semperoper () is the opera house of the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden (Saxon State Opera) and the concert hall of the Staatskapelle Dresden (Saxon State Orchestra). It is also home to the Semperoper Ballett. The building is located on the Theaterplatz near the Elbe River in the historic centre of Dresden, Germany. The Kansas City Ballet (KCB) is an American professional ballet company based in Kansas City, Missouri. The company was founded in 1957 by Russian expatriate Tatiana Dokoudovska. The KCB presents five major performances each season to include an annual production of ''The Nutcracker''. In the 2016–2017 season, KCB grew to an all-time high with 30 company dancers, 15 second company dancers, 64 full-time and part-time staff, and a network of over 400 local volunteers. The Cincinnati Ballet is a professional ballet company founded in 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States and had its first performance in 1964. The current artistic director is Victoria Morgan. Charlotte Ballet is the oldest professional ballet company in North Carolina. It was founded as North Carolina Dance Theatre in Winston-Salem by Robert Lindgren, who was then Dean of Dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, in 1970. Ballet West
Ballet West is an American ballet company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was founded in 1963 as the Utah Civic Ballet by Willam F. Christensen, the company's first artistic director, and Glenn Walker Wallace, who served as its first president. Christensen had previously established the first ballet department in an American university at the University of Utah in 1951. In 1968, the Federation of Rocky Mountain States chose the company to represent that group, and by extension, to represent the western United States.
