Helen Browning OBE, Deputy lieutenant, DL is an organic farming, organic livestock and Arable land, arable farmer in Wiltshire, England, and Chief Executive of the Soil Association. Career In 1986 Browning took on her father's farm near Bishopstone, Swindon, which is rented from the Church of England, and turned it into an organic farm. She founded Eastbrook Farm Organic Meats and the Helen Browning Organic brand. She has held a number of public appointments including the Policy Commission on the Future of Farming and Food, 'Curry Commission' on the Future of Farming and Food, the Agriculture and Environment Biotechnology Commission and the Meat and Livestock Commission. She was Director of External Affairs at the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, National Trust and has been chair of the Food Ethics Council since 2002. The Independent
''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. The newspaper was controlled by Tony O'Reilly's Irish Independent News & Media from 1997 until it was sold to the Russian oligarch and former KGB Officer Alexander Lebedev in 2010.
