Heka Nanai
Heka Nanai (born 15 August 1988) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s for Canterbury-Bankstown. Nanai played on the wing or in the centres. Early years Nanai was a graduate of Westfields Sports High School located in Fairfield West. Westfields is a sports school that has produced players such as Jarryd Hayne, Liam Fulton, Krisnan Inu, Luke O'Donnell and Mark Minichiello. Playing career Nanai made his debut for Canterbury against the Sydney Roosters in Round 16 of the NRL season on 2 July 2007. Nanai scored his first try in Round 19 against the Gold Coast Titans. In 2008, Nanai was Canterbury's leading try scorer with 14 for the season. Nanai then played in the Bundaberg Red Cup for Saint Johns Eagles. Canterbury, New South Wales
Canterbury is a suburb extending across south-western Sydney and the Inner West, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Canterbury is located south-west of the Sydney central business district in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. The former City of Canterbury took its name from the suburb, however its administrative centre was located in the adjacent suburb of Campsie, which is also a large commercial centre. History The original inhabitants of the area were the Bediagal clan of the Eora nation. The first European land grant in this suburb was of to a "very good, pious, inoffensive man", the Reverend Richard Johnson (1753-1827), the colony's first chaplain, in 1793. Junior Kangaroos
The Junior Kangaroos side represents Australia in the sport of rugby league. They are commonly known as the Junior Kangaroos, after the native marsupial of that name. Since 2019, they are an under-23 side, with players selected from the NRL. They are administered by the Australian Rugby League Commission. History Prior to 2010, the Junior Kangaroos was selected on an under-19 age basis. The best Australian players 19 years of age or younger, would represent the country against the likes of the Junior Kiwis, Papua New Guinea and Tonga, sometimes as curtain raisers to the senior Kangaroos games. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Players
Canterbury-Bankstown is a customary region of Sydney, Australia, in the south-western suburbs. The area is located around the Bankstown railway line, to the west of the St George region and to the south of the Inner West region. Australia National Rugby League Team
The Australian National Rugby League Team, the Kangaroos, have represented Australia in senior men's rugby league football competition since the establishment of Rugby league in Australia, the 'Northern Union game' in Australia in 1908. Administered by the Australian Rugby League Commission, the Kangaroos are ranked fourth in the RLIF World Rankings. The team is the most successful in Rugby League World Cup history, having contested all 16 and won 12 of them, failing to reach the final only once, in the 1954 Rugby League World Cup, inaugural tournament in 1954. Ron Massey Cup
The Ron Massey Cup (formerly known as the Bundaberg Red Cup and Jim Beam Cup) is a semi-professional development level rugby league competition in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, run jointly by the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and the Country Rugby League of New South Wales (CRL). The competition is run concurrently with the National Rugby League (NRL). It currently comprises 13 teams drawn from the Sydney metropolitan area. The competition is named after Ron Massey, a former rugby league coach. Ron Massey died 19 September 2016. The competition is an expanded version of the former Metropolitan Cup and Second Division competitions. The competition was renamed the Bundaberg Red Cup after the 2008 season (the last Jim Beam Cup season), after Bundaberg replaced former sponsor Jim Beam.
