Charlene Heisler
Charlene Heisler (1 December 1961 – 28 October 1999) was a Canadian astronomer. She is best known for her work on Active galactic nucleus, Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). The Astronomical Society of Australia created the Charlene Heisler Prize in her honour. Early life and education Charlene Heisler was born in Calgary, Alberta. Heisler graduated from the University of Calgary with a BSc in applied maths and physics in 1985. During her time at Calgary, she worked as a summer research assistant for Sun Kwok and Gene (Eugene) Couch as well as working at the Calgary Centennial Planetarium. Before starting her PhD, Heisler was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and was informed by her doctor she would not live more than two years and that she should abandon her PhD studies. However, she went on to live 8 more years and she completed her PhD at Yale University, Yale under the supervision of Jeanette Patricia Vader in 1991. Independent Studio Services or ISS is a prop supplier for television and film production studios. Props provided by ISS have been used in numerous motion pictures and television programs. ISS was founded in 1977 by Gregg Bilson, Sr., and is currently based in Sunland, California with satellite branches in New Mexico, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Massachusetts, and New York. Banknotes ISS provided prop banknotes for the film ''Rush Hour 2,'' which starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. The film's plot involved the production of high quality counterfeit United States currency, known as "superbills," by Hong Kong-based triads which laundered them through a Las Vegas casino. While filming in Las Vegas, prop banknotes with a face value of $1 billion USD were blown up; however, the explosion failed to destroy all the banknotes. The Heisler locomotive is one of the three major types of geared steam locomotives and the last to be patented. Charles L. Heisler received a patent for the design in 1892, following the construction of a prototype in 1891. Somewhat similar to a Climax locomotive, Heisler's design featured two cylinders canted inwards at a 45-degree angle to form a 'V-twin' arrangement. Power then went to a longitudinal drive shaft in the center of the frame that drove the outboard axle on each powered truck through bevel gears in an enclosed gearcase riding on the axle between the truck frames. The inboard axle on each truck was then driven from the outboard one by external side (connecting) rods. In 1897, Heisler received a patent on a three-truck locomotive.Charles L. Stuart Heisler
Stuart Heisler (December 5, 1896 – August 21, 1979) was an American film and television director. He was a son of Luther Albert Heisler (1855–1916), a carpenter, and Frances Baldwin Heisler (1857–1935). He worked as a motion picture editor from 1921 to 1936, then worked as film director for the rest of his career. Heisler directed the 1944 propaganda film ''The Negro Soldier'', a documentary-style recruitment piece aimed at getting African-Americans to enlist in the U.S. military during World War II. He found commercial and critical success in the late forties directing Susan Hayward in two of her breakthrough performances.
