Heinrichswalde is a municipality in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. History From 1648 to 1720, Heinrichswalde was part of Swedish Pomerania. From 1720 to 1945, it was part of the Prussian Province of Pomerania, from 1945 to 1952 of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, from 1952 to 1990 of the Bezirk Neubrandenburg of East Germany and since 1990 again of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Slavsk
Slavsk (russian: link=no, Славск; german: Heinrichswalde; lt, Gastos; pl, Jędrzychowo) is a town and the administrative center of Slavsky District in the Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located northeast of Kaliningrad. Population figures: History The town was established in 1292. In 1454, King Casimir IV Jagiellon incorporated it to the Kingdom of Poland upon the request of the anti-Teutonic Prussian Confederation. After the subsequent Thirteen Years' War (1454–1466), it became a part of Poland as a fief held by the Teutonic Knights, and by Ducal Prussia afterwards. From 1701, it formed part of the Kingdom of Prussia, and in 1819 it became seat of the Prussian Elchniederung district. In 1871 it became part of Germany. In the late 19th century, it had a population of over 1,800, partially Lithuanian. According to German data 16,000 Lithuanians lived in the district in 1890 (29% of the population). Harry Tisch
Harry Tisch (March 28, 1927, Heinrichswalde – June 18, 1995) was an East German politician and trade unionist who served as Chairman of the Free German Trade Union Federation between 1975 and 1989. He was also a member of the State Council from 1976 until he was forced to resign in November 1989. He was a recipient of the Patriotic Order of Merit in Gold in 1969 and the Order of Karl Marx in 1977. After German reunification German reunification (german: link=no, Deutsche Wiedervereinigung) was the process of re-establishing Germany as a united and fully sovereign state, which took place between 2 May 1989 and 15 March 1991. Vorpommern-Greifswald is a district in the east of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the districts of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte and Vorpommern-Rügen, the Baltic Sea, Poland (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) and the state of Brandenburg. The district seat is the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald. A lake called Berliner See is found in the district. Horst Scheffler
Horst Scheffler (born April 26, 1935, in Heinrichswalde) is a German painter, teacher, and graphic artist. His work has been exhibited as Concrete Art (Konkreten Kunst), and Rudolf Arnheim in 1974 wrote of the "particularly modern, teasing dynamics" of his work. Since 1969, Scheffler has lived and worked in Bremen. Education and teaching career From 1949 to 1952, Scheffler was an apprentice carpenter in Mittelhessen. From 1953 to 1955, he attended the Werkkunstschule in Hanau, and from 1956 to 1958 the Werkkunstschule in Hamburg, where he was a pupil of . In 1968 he studied in Switzerland, where he became acquainted with Richard Paul Lohse and Camille Graeser, followed in 1969 by a study visit to West Berlin and a scholarship from the city of Bremen.
