The Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal (Heinrich-Tessenow-Medaille) is an architecture award established in 1963 by the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung F.V.S. of Hamburg in honour of Heinrich Tessenow. It is awarded by the Heinrich-Tessenow-Gesellschaft e.V. Peter Kulka
Peter Kulka (20 July 1937 – 5 February 2024) was a German architect. Biography Born in Dresden on 20 July 1937, Kulka completed a masonry apprenticeship and attended the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin alongside Selman Selmanagić. He fled from East Germany in 1965. He began working as an independent architect in Berlin with Hans Scharoun in 1969 before setting up his own office in Cologne ten years later. In 1980, he teamed up with to design religious buildings. From 1986 to 1992, he was a professor of structural design at RWTH Aachen University. After the Reunification of Germany, Kulka moved back to Dresden and opened his second office. He took part in the reconstruction of institutions in the former East Germany, including the Landtag of Saxony. A renovation project awarded by the ''Architekturpreis der Stadt Leipzig'' in 1999 was that of a villa which houses the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig. Anne Lacaton
Anne Lacaton (born 2 August 1955) is a French architect and educator. She runs the architectural practice Lacaton & Vassal, with Jean-Philippe Vassal. The pair were jointly awarded the 2021 Pritzker Prize. Early life and education She was born in Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière on 2 August 1955. Lacaton graduated in architecture from the École nationale supérieure d'architecture et de paysage de Bordeaux and received a master's degree in urban planning from the University of Bordeaux in 1984. Lacaton often visited Vassal in Niger, who worked there as an architect and town planner; they built their first joint project, a straw hut. Alberto Campo Baeza
Alberto Campo Baeza (born in 1946, in Valladolid) is a Spanish architect and Full-Time Design Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid from 1986 to 2017. He retired the same year. He has built a number of buildings that have received awards. He has beennoted by some as part of a group of designers associated with Minimalism in architecture, together with architects such as David Chipperfield and John Pawson. Diener & Diener is an architectural firm established in Basel, Switzerland in 1942. The second generation of Diener & Diener has been active since 1980. Richard Sennett (born 1 January 1943) is an American sociologist who is the Centennial Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and former University Professor of the Humanities at New York University. Sergison Bates architects is an architectural practice with an office in London and Zürich. It was founded by Jonathan Sergison (born 1964) and Stephen Bates (born 1964) in 1996 in London. Gilles Perraudin
The Gilles are the oldest and principal participants in the Carnival of Binche in Belgium. They go out on Shrove Tuesday from 4 a.m. until late hours and dance to traditional songs. Eduardo Elísio Machado Souto de Moura (; born 25 July 1952), better known as Eduardo Souto de Moura, is a Portuguese architect who was the recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2011 and the Wolf Prize in Arts in 2013. Heinz Tesar
Heinz Tesar (16 June 1939 – 18 January 2024) was an Austrian architect who had an international reputation for his church and museum architecture. Life and career Tesar studied architecture from 1961 to 1965 at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in the master class of Roland Rainer. After several stays in Hamburg (1959–1961), Munich (1965–1968) and Amsterdam (1971), he opened, in 1973, his own studio in Vienna. From 1972 to 1977 he was a member of the Board of the Austrian Society for Architecture and from 2002 to 2006 he was a member of the Baukollegium of the city of Zurich. In 2000 he opened an office in Berlin. Tesar died on 18 January 2024, at the age of 84, in Baden bei Wien.
