Mohammed Hegazy
Mohammed Hegazy ( ar, محمد حجازي, ) (born 1982) was the first Egyptian Muslim convert to Christianity to seek official recognition of his conversion from the Egyptian government. Sarah Hegazi
Sarah Hegazi ( ar, سارة حجازي; 1989 – 14 June 2020), also spelled Hegazy or Higazy, was an Egyptian socialist, writer, and lesbian activist. She was arrested, imprisoned and tortured in Egypt for three months after flying a rainbow flag at a Mashrou' Leila concert in 2017 in Cairo. Hegazi lived with PTSD resulting from the prison torture she had experienced in Egypt. She was granted asylum in Canada, living there until her death. Early life and education Hegazi was born in 1989 to an Egyptian conservative middle-class family; she was the eldest of four siblings. Mahmoud Hegazy
Mahmoud Ibrahim Mahmoud Hegazy ( ar, محمود إبراهيم محمود حجازى; born 11 May 1956) is an Egyptian general who was the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces from 2014 to 2017. Hegazy graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy in 1977, and served as the Chief of the Egyptian Military intelligence before his appointment as Chief of Staff by the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Safwat Hegazi
Safwat Hegazi (sometimes written Safwat Hijazi; ar, صفوت حجازى, ; born 11 April 1963) is an Egyptian imam and television preacher who is on the list of "Individuals banned from the UK for stirring up hatred". A supporter of Mohamed Morsi, he was arrested after the 2013 Egyptian revolution. Career and views Safwat Hegazy is a graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University. Hegazy was investigated in Egypt in 2006 for issuing a fatwā calling for the death of visiting Israeli officials. He later withdrew the fatwa. Egyptian Arabic, locally known as Colloquial Egyptian ( ar, العامية المصرية, ), or simply Masri (also Masry) (), is the most widely spoken vernacular Arabic dialect in Egypt. It is part of the Afro-Asiatic language family, and originated in the Nile Delta in Lower Egypt. Salama Hegazi
Salama Hegazi ( ar, سلامة حجازي) born 1852, died October 4, 1917 was an Egyptian singer. He was a pioneer of musical theatre in Egypt in the first half of the 20th century. Born Salama Ibrahim Hegazi, he was locally known as El Sheikh Salama. In 1852 in Alexandria, he recited the Qur'an, after memorising the entire book. Many famous singers in Egypt, such as Munira Mahdia and Mohamed Abdel Wahab, have sung his music. He promoted Sayed Darwish, who considered him an inspiration.
