Theatre Royal, Drury Lane
The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, commonly known as Drury Lane, is a West End theatre and Grade I listed building in Covent Garden, London, England. The building faces Catherine Street (earlier named Bridges or Brydges Street) and backs onto Drury Lane. The building is the most recent in a line of four theatres which were built at the same location, the earliest of which dated back to 1663, making it the oldest theatre site in London still in use. According to the author Peter Thomson, for its first two centuries, Drury Lane could "reasonably have claimed to be London's leading theatre". For most of that time, it was one of a handful of patent theatres, granted monopoly rights to the production of "legitimate" drama in London (meaning spoken plays, rather than opera, dance, concerts, or plays with music). John Roberts (stage Actor)
John Roberts was a British stage actor of the eighteenth century. During the early 1720s he was a member of the Drury Lane company. He then left the company for a number of years before returning in 1728. He remained in the Dury Lane company until 1734, but also made appearances at the Haymarket Theatre and in summer performances at Bartholomew Fair. From 1734 he primarily appeared at the Covent Garden Theatre. Anne Brett
Anne Brett or Anne Mason; Anne Gerard, Countess of Macclesfield (1667/8 – 11 October 1753) was a Kingdom of Great Britain courtier. She had a scandalous divorce. References Brett was born in Shropshire in 1667 or 1668. Her parents were Anna and Sir Richard Mason and she had a sister, Dorothy. She first married Charles Gerard, Viscount Brandon when she was fifteen. The marriage was not a success but divorce was difficult. She had two children with Richard Savage, 4th Earl Rivers before her marriage was ended in 1698. Whilst she waited for their divorce her husband became the Earl of Macclesfield so she was a countess when they parted. She was a rich countess as over £12,000 was returned to her from before her marriage. Her children, Anne and Richard Savage had been kept a secret. Jane Cibber

XIII Life She was born in 1704 or 1706 as Jane Johnson. Her guardian was the writer Richard Savage. Originally appearing at Drury Lane Theatre as Jane Johnson, in 1725 she married Theophilus Cibber the son of actor-manager Colley Cibber.Koon p. 109 She had four children with him while continuing to act on the stage in a mixture of comedies and tragedies. When Elizabeth Younger defected to work for the Lincoln's Inn Fields Theatre company, she took over the roles she had been playing. John Thurmond
John Thurmond (died 1727) was a British stage actor. To distinguish him from his son, also an actor named John, he is sometimes called John Thurmond the Elder. His earliest known stage performance was in 1695, when he played in '' Cyrus the Great'' with Thomas Betterton's troupe at the Lincoln's Inn Fields Theatre. Around 1699 he joined the Smock Alley Theatre where he acted alongside his wife Winifred. By 1708 he was back in London with the Drury Lane Theatre. He died on 7 September 1727 the same night he had been due to appear in '' Othello''. William Mills (actor)
William Mills (1701-1750) was a British stage actor. The son of veteran stage actor John Mills and his wife Margaret Mills, he was born in London and baptised at St Martin-in-the-Fields on 29 June 1701. Under his father's guidance he made his debut as a child actor in 1712. Like his father, he was a long-standing member of the Drury Lane theatre company. He took part in the Actor Rebellion of 1733, and left to work at the Haymarket Theatre for a season before returning to Drury Lane. His last appearance was in ''The Merchant of Venice'' in February 1750 and he died two months later on 18 April, shortly before a benefit was to be staged for him, and was buried at St Martin-in-the-Fields. John Mills (stage Actor)
John Mills (c.1670–1736) was a British stage actor. A long-standing part of the Drury Lane company from 1695 until his death, he appeared in both comedies and tragedies. His wife Margaret Mills was an actress, and his son William Mills also became an actor at Drury Lane. He was a friend of the playwright Richard Steele and Robert Wilks the lead actor and manager at Drury Lane with whom he frequently appeared on stage. Barton Booth (168210 May 1733) was one of the most famous dramatic actors of the first part of the 18th century.
