Hebron (; , or ; , ) is a Palestinian city in the southern West Bank, south of Jerusalem. Hebron is capital of the Hebron Governorate, the largest Governorates of Palestine, governorate in the West Bank. With a population of 201,063 in the city limits, the adjacent metropolitan area within the governorate is home to over 700,000 people. Hebron spans across an area of . The Old City of Hebron ( ) is the historic city centre of Hebron in the West Bank, Palestine. The Hebron of antiquity is thought by archaeologists to have originally started elsewhere, at Tel Rumeida, which is approximately west of today's Old City, and thought to have originally been a Canaanite city. Tayseer Abu Sneineh () (alt. Tisir Abu Sneina) is a Palestinian politician, a former member of the Fatah party, and Mayor of Hebron, in the West Bank. He was convicted by Israel for taking part in the 1980 Hebron terrorist attack, which killed six civilians. He was elected Mayor of Hebron on 14 May 2017. Tomb Of Jesse And Ruth
The tomb of Jesse and Ruth () is an ancient tomb with a small Jewish synagogue, located within the ruin of Deir Al Arba'een in the Tel Rumeida section of Hebron. According to Jewish tradition, the tomb of Jesse and Ruth is a sacred site. The place is in area H2 of Hebron, under Israeli control. Sheikh Ali al-Bakka Mosque or Shaykh Ali al-Baka Mosque () is a 13th-century mosque in the northwestern section of the Old City of Hebron in the southern West Bank, Palestine. It is situated in the Harat ash-Sheikh (or Sheik Ali al-Bakka) quarter, one of the Old City's quarters, which is named after the mosque.
