Hebbel Am Ufer
The Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) is a theater and international performance center based in Berlin. It was founded by combining three theaters in Kreuzberg, Berlin: Hebbel Theater (now called HAU1), Theater am Halleschen Ufer (theater at Hallesches Ufer) (now called HAU2) and Theater am Ufer (now called HAU3). Annemie Vanackere has been its artistic director since 2012. Its founding director was Matthias Lilienthal, who also invented the international best-selling theater project " X Homes" (also known as " X Apartments"). The Hebbel am Ufer is funded with 4 million euros by the State of Berlin and various foundations and organizations in Berlin as well as in the rest of Germany. Annemie Vanackere
Annemie Vanackere (born 1966 in Kortrijk) is a Belgian festival curator and theatre director. Since 2012, she has been the artistic director and managing director of the Hebbel am Ufer Theatre in Berlin. Life Vanackere studied theatre and cinema for one year in Leuven and philosophy in Leuven and Paris. where she also attended seminars by Jacques Derrida at the Sorbonne. She worked as a production manager before taking over as artistic director of the Nieuwpoorttheater in Ghent in 1993. Kreuzberg
Kreuzberg () is a district of Berlin, Germany. It is part of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg borough located south of Mitte. During the Cold War era, it was one of the poorest areas of West Berlin, but since German reunification in 1990 it has become more gentrified and known for its arts scene. The borough is known for its large percentage of immigrants and descendants of immigrants, many of whom are of Turkish ancestry. As of 2006, 31.6% of Kreuzberg's inhabitants did not have German citizenship. Baktruppen
Baktruppen was an artist collective (1986–2011), founded in Bergen, Norway. The group has had a substantial impact on European live art. The performative work of Baktruppen consisted of theatre and dance performances, performance art, invisible theatre, video art, radio programs, sound art, site specific art, and politically motivated actions. Theatre historian Knut Ove Arntzen in the book ''Performance Art by Baktruppen'', first part (kontur 2009) explains: "Baktruppen is known for their irony and playing with avantgardistic approaches to theatre and performance art. They may even be perceived as having transgressed the avant-garde!" The Wooster Group is a New York City-based experimental theater company known for creating numerous original dramatic works. Christoph Maria Schlingensief (24 October 1960 – 21 August 2010) was a German theatre director, performance artist, and filmmaker. Starting as an independent underground filmmaker, Schlingensief later staged productions for theatres and festivals, often accompanied by public controversies. Jochen Roller
Jochen Roller (born 1971) is a German choreographer and performance artist. Life Born in Berlin, Roller studied applied theatre studies at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen and choreography at the Rudolf von Laban centre in London. Richard Maxwell (born 1967) is an American experimental theater director and playwright in New York City. He is the artistic director of the New York City Players. Life and career Originally from West Fargo, North Dakota, Maxwell began his professional career with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Dorky Park is a dance company from Berlin, created and directed by choreographer Constanza Macras. Initially, between 1997 and 2003, the dance troupe was called Tamagotchi Y2K. Constanza Macras was born in Buenos Aires, where she studied dance and fashion design.
