Hebbar Iyengar
Hebbar Iyengar or Hebbari Srivaishnava is a caste of Hindu Brahmins of Tamil and Kannada origin whose members follow the Visishtadvaita philosophy propounded by Ramanuja. They are found primarily in the Indian state of Karnataka especially in Southern Districts. Hebbar Iyengars speak a unique language known as Hebbar Tamil, which is a Kannadised version of Tamil. The Hebbar language is highly influenced by Kannada and uses many loan words from Kannada, Sanskrit and archaic Tamil Vocabulary. As with other Iyengar communities, Hebbar Iyengars are also divided into two sub-communities of Vadakalai and Thenkalai based on the different emphases in religious literature. The Vadakalai community deems the Vedas, written in Sanskrit to be more important, while the Thenkalai community ascribes more importance to the Tamil scriptures. Ranjani Hebbar Guruprasad (1981 - 9 June 2013) was an Indian Carnatic music vocalist. Now her two disciples, Vid. Archana and Vid. Samanvi are propagating the music following their path shown by their Guru. Early life Ranjani Hebbar was born in Udupi to Aravind Hebbar, a Botany Professor and Vasanthalakshmi. She started learning music from her parents and Madhoor Balasubramaniam and become the first disciple of S. Sowmya and Srinivasan, Sowmya's father. Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar (15 June 1911 – 26 March 1996) was an Indian painter and art educator. He is well known for his paintings that captured the social life of the common people in India. Inspired by traditional Indian art, he combined the Western art techniques with his paintings to create a unique style of his own. Painting for Hebbar was about being true to the original self and this is what he tried to achieve in his works. In addition to his paintings, he is also known for his rhythmic line drawings and illustrations. The ''Smarta'' tradition ( sa, स्मार्त), also called Smartism, is a movement in Hinduism that developed and expanded with the Puranas genre of literature. It reflects a synthesis of four philosophical strands, namely Mimamsa, Advaita, Yoga, and theism.
