''Heavy Petting'', also known as ''Don't Knock the Baldhead'', is the eighth studio album by British 2 tone and ska band Bad Manners, released on 4 November 1997. Originally released as ''Don't Knock The Baldhead!'' in Germany on Pork Pie Records, the album was also released as ''Heavy Petting'' in the U.S.A. ( Moon Ska Records), Japan (Tachyon International) and Spain (Tralla Records). The album eventually got its first UK release in 2013 on Cherry Red Records. Bad Manners
Bad Manners are an English two-tone and ska band led by frontman Buster Bloodvessel. Early appearances included ''Top of the Pops'' and the live film documentary, ''Dance Craze'' (1981). They were at their most popular during the early 1980s, during a period when other ska revival bands such as Madness, the Specials and the Selecter filled the charts. Bad Manners spent 111 weeks in the UK Singles Chart between 1980 and 1983, and they also achieved chart success with their first four studio albums with ''Ska 'n' B'' (1980), ''Loonee Tunes!'' (1980), and '' Gosh It's ... Bad Manners'' (1981) being their biggest hits. Moon Ska Records
Moon Ska Records was one of the most influential ska record labels of the 1980s and 1990s. The label operated from 1983 until 2000, and during those seventeen years, only released ska and ska-influenced music. Originally named ''Moon Records'', as a tribute to Sun Records, the label changed its name to ''Moon Ska Records'' because another label owned the copyright to the ''Moon Records'' name. The label was started by Robert "Bucket" Hingley, founding member of The Toasters as a means to distribute albums by The Toasters. The label became an American source for many British ska import albums. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Two-tone (music Genre)
Two-tone or 2 tone is a genre of British popular music of the late 1970s and early 1980s that fused traditional Jamaican ska music with elements of punk rock and new wave music. Its name derives from 2 Tone Records, a record label founded in 1979 by Jerry Dammers of The Specials, and references a desire to transcend and defuse racial tensions in Thatcher-era Britain: many two-tone groups, such as The Specials, The Selecter, and The Beat, featured a mix of Black, white, and multiracial people. Originating in the Midlands city Coventry in England in the late 1970s, it was part of the second wave of ska music, following on from the first ska music that developed in Jamaica in the 1950s and 1960s, and infused with punk and new wave textures. Cherry Red Records is a British independent record label founded in Malvern, Worcestershire by Iain McNay in 1978. The label has released recordings by Dead Kennedys, Everything But the Girl, The Monochrome Set, and Felt, among others, as well as the compilation album ''Pillows & Prayers''. In addition to releasing new music, Cherry Red also acts as an umbrella for individual imprints and catalogue specialists. "Black Night" is a song by British hard rock band Deep Purple, first released as a single in June 1970 and later included on the 25th Anniversary version of their 1970 album, ''Deep Purple in Rock''. It became a hit following its release, peaking at No. 2 on UK charts, and remains Deep Purple's highest charting UK single. Ritchie Blackmore
Richard Hugh Blackmore (born 14 April 1945) is an English guitarist and songwriter. He was a founding member of Deep Purple in 1968, playing jam-style hard rock music that mixed guitar riffs and organ sounds. He is prolific in creating guitar riffs and classically influenced solos. During his solo career, Blackmore established the hard rock band Rainbow, which fused baroque music influences and elements of hard rock. Rainbow steadily moved to catchy pop-style mainstream rock. He later formed the traditional folk rock project Blackmore's Night along with his current wife Candice Night, shifting to vocalist-centred sounds. "Randy Scouse Git" is a song written by Micky Dolenz in 1967 and recorded by the Monkees. It was the first song written by Dolenz to be commercially released, and it became a number 2 hit in the UK where it was retitled "Alternate Title" after the record company (RCA) complained that the original title was actually somewhat " rude to British audience". Dolenz took the song's title from a phrase he had heard spoken on an episode of the British television series '' Till Death Us Do Part'', which he had watched while in England. The song also appeared on ''The Monkees'' TV series, on their album ''Headquarters,'' and on several "Greatest Hits" albums. Peter Tork said that it was one of his favorite Monkees tracks.
