Cradle Of Filth
Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved originally from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic metal and other metal genres. Their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. The band consists of its founding member, vocalist Dani Filth, drummer Martin Marthus Škaroupka, Martin 'Marthus' Škaroupka, bassist Daniel Firth, guitarists Marek 'Ashok' Šmerda and Donny Burbage, and keyboardist Zoe Marie Federoff. The band has broken free from its original niche by courting mainstream publicity. This increased accessibility has brought coverage from the likes of ''Kerrang!'' and MTV, along with frequent main stage appearances at major festivals such as Ozzfest, Download Festival, Download and even the mainstream Sziget Festival. They have sometimes been perceived as Satanism, Satanic by casual observers, even tho ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Dani Filth explained to the magazine ''Empire (magazine), Empire'' in September 2012: We loved ''Cabal'', ''The Damnation Game (novel), The Damnation Game'' and ''The Books of Blood'', and we liked that everything had "Clive Barker presents..." on it before people even knew who he was. Cradle Of Fear
''Cradle of Fear'' is a 2001 British horror film, directed by Alex Chandon. It was released direct-to-video on 4 July 2001. Taking inspiration from the anthology films produced by Amicus Productions in the 1970s, it features three separate half-hour segments, linked by a fourth story. The main narrative involves imprisoned serial killer Kemper wreaking vengeance on those responsible for his capture. This he does through his son: Dani Filth playing an unnamed character referred to in the credits as "The Man". Shot on video and on a very low budget, the film received a lukewarm reception in the horror press, and is chiefly of interest to Cradle of Filth fans, as it features the entire lineup (principally Dani, but the rest crop up in cameo roles) from the band's ''Midian'' era. Chandon's association with Cradle of Filth began with the promo video for ''From the Cradle to Enslave'', and he went on to direct the clips for "Her Ghost in the Fog" and "No Time to Cry", plus some DVD ... Content and recording According to frontman Dani Filth, ''Bitter Suites to Succubi'' is a "transitional mini album; essentially an EP", bridging the gap between ''Midian'' and ''Damnation and a Day'' while the band negotiated their label change from Music for Nations to Sony Records. It features six new compositions (two of which are instrumentals), but is bolstered to album-length with three reworkings of songs from '' The Principle of Evil Made Flesh'' ("The Principle of Evil Made Flesh", "Summer Dying Fast" and "The Black Goddess Rises") and a cover of The Sisters of Mercy's "No Time to Cry". It was the band's first release on their own Abracadaver label. "Dinner at Deviant's Palace" features a recording of Paul Allender's son reading ''The Lord's Prayer'' played backwards. This would be the last studio release to ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Cruelty And The Beast
''Cruelty and the Beast'' is the third studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It is a concept album based on the legend of the Hungarian "blood countess" Elizabeth Báthory and features guest narration by actress Ingrid Pitt in-character as Báthory, a role she first played in the Hammer Horror film ''Countess Dracula'' in 1971. It was released on 5 May 1998 by record label Music for Nations. The album, while positively received, was noted for its poor production by fans, critics and members of the band alike. A remixed and remastered edition, titled ''Cruelty and the Beast – Re-Mistressed'', was released in November 2019. In November 2021, during an AMA with Dani Filth on reddit, it was revealed that the track, "Bathory Aria" was the track Dani was most proud of out of the band's entire catalog. The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh
''The Principle of Evil Made Flesh'' is the debut studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It was released on 24 February 1994 through Cacophonous Records, following three demos released between 1991 and 1993. The album's sound is significantly more raw than on subsequent releases, and frontman Dani Filth's vocals differ from his later style and technique. The album is a then-unusual hybrid of gothic metal and black metal. This would be the only album featuring guitarist Paul Ryan and keyboardist Benjamin Ryan; guitarist Paul Allender also left the band at this point, but returned five years later for ''Midian''. Some of the tracks from this album were later re-recorded for '' V Empire'' (1996), '' Bitter Suites to Succubi'' (2001), Evermore Darkly (2011) and '' Midnight in the Labyrinth'' (2012). Musical style In the book ''The Gospel of Filth'', Gavin Baddeley describes the album and its place within (or alongside) the contemporary black metal scene: ... Dusk
Dusk occurs at the darkest stage of twilight, or at the very end of astronomical twilight after sunset and just before nightfall.''The Random House College Dictionary'', "dusk". At predusk, during early to intermediate stages of twilight, enough light in the sky under clear conditions may occur to read outdoors without artificial illumination; however, at the end of civil twilight (when Earth rotates to a point at which the center of the Sun's disk is 6° below the local horizon), such lighting is required to read outside. The term ''dusk'' usually refers to astronomical dusk, or the darkest part of twilight before night begins. Technical definitions The time of dusk is the moment at the very end of astronomical twilight, just before the minimum brightness of the night sky sets in, or may be thought of as ''the darkest part of evening twilight''. However, technically, the three stages of dusk are as follows: *At civil dusk, the center of the Sun's disc goes 6° below the ... V Empire (Or Dark Faerytales In Phallustein)
''V Empire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein'' is an EP by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth, and the first release following their 1994 debut studio album ''The Principle of Evil Made Flesh''. It was released on 22 April 1996, and was the band's final release for Cacophonous Records. Recording ''V Empire'' was hastily written and recorded for Cacophonous Records as a contractual obligation before the band jumped ship to Music for Nations. As such, it is the first of two albums released in 1996, the other being '' Dusk... and Her Embrace''. Half of the band was replaced for this recording, with Stuart Anstis replacing guitarists Paul Allender and Paul Ryan and Damien Gregori replacing keyboardist Benjamin Ryan. All the guitars on ''V Empire'' were performed by Anstis. The name "Jared Demeter" listed as a second guitarist in the liner notes included in the booklet of the EP is just a made-up name to give the impression that there were two guitarists on the EP. Also, a ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Extreme Metal
Extreme metal is a loosely defined umbrella term for a number of related heavy metal music subgenres that have developed since the early 1980s. It has been defined as a "cluster of metal subgenres characterized by sonic, verbal, and visual transgression". The term usually refers to a more abrasive, harsher, underground, non-commercialized style associated with the speed metal, thrash metal, black metal, death metal, and doom metal genres.K. Kahn-Harris, ''Extreme Metal: Music and Culture on the Edge'' (Berg Publishers, 2007), , p. 31. Hardcore punk has been considered an integral part of the development of extreme metal, in the case of song structure and speed, in every case other than doom metal. Definitions Extreme metal acts set themselves apart from traditional heavy metal acts, such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Motörhead, by incorporating more abrasive musical characteristics such as higher tempos, increased aggression and a harsher extremity.
