Heaven
Heaven or the heavens, is a common religious cosmological or transcendent supernatural place where beings such as deities, angels, souls, saints, or venerated ancestors are said to originate, be enthroned, or reside. According to the beliefs of some religions, heavenly beings can descend to Earth or incarnate and earthly beings can ascend to Heaven in the afterlife or, in exceptional cases, enter Heaven alive. Heaven is often described as a "highest place", the holiest place, a Paradise, in contrast to hell or the Underworld or the "low places" and universally or conditionally accessible by earthly beings according to various standards of divinity, goodness, piety, faith, or other virtues or right beliefs or simply divine will. Some believe in the possibility of a heaven on Earth in a ''world to come''. Another belief is in an axis mundi or world tree which connects the heavens, the terrestrial world, and the underworld. In Indian religions, heaven is considered a ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Heavenly (British Band)
Heavenly were a twee pop band, originally forming in Oxford, England in 1989. Amelia Fletcher (vocals/guitar), Mathew Fletcher (drums; Amelia's brother), Peter Momtchiloff (guitar) and Robert Pursey (bass) had all been members of Talulah Gosh, a key member of the C86 scene. History Heavenly debuted with the 7" single "I Fell in Love Last Night", followed by another 7", "Our Love Is Heavenly", both released in 1990 on Sarah Records. '' Heavenly vs. Satan'', the group's debut album, came out in 1991. At this stage in their career, the instrumentation remained very much the same jangly guitar style used by Talulah Gosh. Before releasing the critically acclaimed '' Le Jardin de Heavenly'', Cathy Rogers (keyboard, back-up vocals) joined the band. Her harmony vocals and keyboards became an integral part of the group's sound. Another strikingly different element of the group's second album was the inclusion of the track, "C is the Heavenly Option," featuring the guest vocals of K ... Heavenly (Johnny Mathis Album)
''Heavenly'' is an album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on August 10, 1959, by Columbia Records and marked his return to recording ballads with orchestral accompaniment. Along with the material that others had covered before are two new songs: the title track and "I'll Be Easy to Find". The album debuted on ''Billboard'' magazine's album chart in the September 21, 1959, issue to begin a run of 295 weeks, five of which were spent at number one. Because the UK version of his 1958 LP ''Good Night, Dear Lord'' was retitled ''Heavenly'', Fontana Records issued this album there under a different title, ''Ride on a Rainbow'', which got as high as number 10 on the UK album chart in February 1960. The US version of ''Heavenly'' received Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 500,000 copies in the US on December 4, 1962, and Platinum certification for one million in sales was awarded on November 21, 1986. Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Ladysmith Black Mambazo are a South African male choral group singing in the local vocal styles of ''isicathamiya'' and '' mbube''. They became known internationally after singing with Paul Simon on his 1986 album ''Graceland'', and have won multiple awards, including five Grammy Awards, dedicating their fifth Grammy to the late former President Nelson Mandela. Formed by Joseph Shabalala in 1960, Ladysmith Black Mambazo became one of South Africa's most prolific recording artists, with their releases receiving gold and platinum disc honours. The group became a mobile academy of South African cultural heritage through their African indigenous ''isicathamiya'' music. History Joseph Shabalala formed Ladysmith Black Mambazo because of a series of dreams he had in 1964, in which he heard certain ''isicathamiya'' harmonies (''isicathamiya'' being the traditional music of the Zulu people). Welcome To The Monkey House (album)
''Welcome to the Monkey House'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band The Dandy Warhols. The album was recorded between September 2001 and December 2002, and released on May 5, 2003 through record label Capitol. The album was originally mixed by Grammy Award-winning soul music engineer Russell Elevado, but Capitol Records were unhappy with releasing it, instead opting for a more polished, synthpop-influenced mix by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. The original mix of the album was later released as ''The Dandy Warhols Are Sound'' in 2009. The album's lead single "We Used to Be Friends" was the theme song to the popular TV series ''Veronica Mars'' as well as its subsequent film adaptation. Two further singles were released from the album: "You Were the Last High" and " Plan A". Background and recording ''Welcome to the Monkey House'' was recorded between studios in Portland, Oregon, London and New York between September 11, 2001 and December 2, 2002. The album feature ... 1990 (The Temptations Album)
''1990'' is a 1973 album by The Temptations for the Gordy ( Motown) label, their final LP written and produced by Norman Whitfield. Music and lyrics The LP was the center of a number of problems. The Temptations were dissatisfied with Whitfield's socially conscious message tracks, which were by now failing commercially, and desired to get back to singing ballads. Whitfield relented some here, placing message tracks such as "1990" and "Ain't No Justice" alongside love songs such as "Heavenly" and "You've Got My Soul on Fire". Release and promotion The album's first single, the Rose Royce-backed and Dennis Edwards-led funk track " Let Your Hair Down", was its only Top 40 hit. The ballad "Heavenly", sung by Richard Street and Damon Harris, was caught in the center of a disc jockey boycott against Motown. A Motown executive did not thank the United States' DJs while accepting an award for the Temptations at the 1974 American Music Awards, and, as a result, the DJs refused to play " ... Heavenly Planet
Heavenly Planet was a planned music festival in Reading, Berkshire, England. The festival was expected to have a capacity of 15,000 and have at least three stages — two all-weather outdoor stages and potentially one indoor arena within the adjacent Rivermead Leisure Centre. On 17 March 2009, Live Nation and Festival Republic issued a press release announcing the cancellation of the festival "due to the effect of the current economic climate". History Since the WOMAD festival ceased to operate in Reading in 2006, Heavenly Planet was scheduled to take place on the same site as both WOMAD and the Reading Festival. Situated north-west of the town centre, the Little John's Farm site (near Caversham Bridge) was developed by Reading Festival organiser Melvin Benn, WOMAD's former artistic director Thomas Brooman CBE and Reading Borough Council.
