''Heaven Surrounds You'' is the third studio album by American indie surf rock band Surf Curse. It was released on September 13, 2019. Background The record was the first written following the bands relocation from there hometown Reno, Nevada to Los Angeles, California. According to the record's Bandcamp page, the record was inspired by cult films the band "had cherished throughout their young adulthood", featuring many references to these films throughout the track listing. During the summer of 2019, the band held three movie screenings of films that had inspired the record. According to the band, some of the movies and shows they were inspired by include '' Eraserhead'', '' The Last Days of Disco'', '' Twin Peaks'', '' Hour of the Wolf'', ''Through a Glass Darkly'', '' Maps to the Stars'', and ''Dead Ringers''. Surf Curse
Surf Curse is an American indie surf rock band formed in 2013 in Reno, Nevada, and now based out of Los Angeles. Created by Nick Rattigan (lead vocals and drums) and Jacob Rubeck (guitars), the band now also includes Henry Dillon and Noah Kholl. The band achieved mainstream success after their song "Freaks", written in 2011 and first released in 2013, became popular on the short-form video platform TikTok in 2020. History Surf Curse was formed in 2013 by Nick Rattigan and Jacob Rubeck in Reno, Nevada, initially under several other names including "Buffalo 66" in reference to the film of the same name. The band soon moved to Los Angeles, where they played at The Smell, a club that welcomed bands with similar sounds to that of Surf Curse's punk-surf rock. ''The Last Days of Disco'' is a 1998 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Whit Stillman, and loosely based on his travels and experiences in various nightclubs in Manhattan, including Studio 54. Starring Chloë Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale, the film follows a group of Ivy League and Hampshire College graduates falling in and out of love in the disco scene of New York City in the early 1980s. Pavo Pavo is an American indie pop quintet from Brooklyn, New York, United States, formed in 2015 and consisting of Eliza Bagg (vocals, violin, synthesizers), Oliver Hill (vocals, guitar, synthesizers), Ian Romer (vocals, bass), Peter Coccoma (guitar), and Noah Hecht (drums). Nicholas Foster Rattigan (born August 6, 1992) is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, journalist and music video director, originating from Reno, Nevada. He currently releases music under the moniker Current Joys. He also is the drummer and lead singer of the indie surf rock band Surf Curse. Baroque pop (sometimes called baroque rock) is a fusion genre that combines rock music with particular elements of classical music.
