The population has grown from 600 people in 1953 to 8,787 people in 2001. Heathmont Post Office opened on 15 February 1929, sometime after the railway station opened in 1926. Heathmont Railway Station
Heathmont railway station is located on the Belgrave line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the eastern Melbourne suburb of Heathmont, and opened on 1 May 1926. History Heathmont station opened on 1 May 1926 and, like the suburb itself, was named after the extensive heath and shrub-like vegetation across the elevated land in the area. In 1977, the station building on the city-bound platform (Platform 1) was provided. On 19 December 1982, a second platform (Platform 2) was provided at the station, as part of the duplication of the line between Ringwood and Bayswater. Canterbury Road is a major arterial road through eastern Melbourne, linking the inner eastern suburbs to the outer eastern fringe at the western foot of the Dandenong Ranges. Electoral District Of Ringwood (Victoria)
The electoral district of Ringwood is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, located in the east of Melbourne. It was first proclaimed in 1958 and was abolished in 1992. Some of Ringwood was included in the new electoral district of Bayswater that year. Kay Setches, the last member for Ringwood, contested and lost Bayswater at the 1992 election. The electorate was created again in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries that took effect at the 2014 state election. The new district largely replaces the abolished district of Mitcham, covering suburbs along the eastern parts of the Maroondah Highway. The abolished district of Mitcham was held by Liberal MP Dee Ryall, who lost the seat in a big swing against her in 2018. Belgrave Railway Line
The Belgrave railway line is a commuter rail line operating between Flinders Street in the Melbourne central business district and Belgrave, through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, including Richmond, Cremorne, Burnley, Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Camberwell, Canterbury, Surrey Hills, Mont Albert, Box Hill, Blackburn, Nunawading, Mitcham, Ringwood, Heathmont, Bayswater, Boronia, Ferntree Gully, Upper Ferntree Gully, Upwey, Tecoma and Belgrave.
