Heather Olmstead
Heather Olmstead is an American volleyball head coach for the BYU Cougars women's volleyball team. In 2018, she was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year. She also served as head coach of the U.S. Collegiate National Team in Japan and as the assistant coach at the 2015 Pan American Games. Her brother, Shawn Olmstead, coaches the BYU Cougars men's volleyball team. Personal life Olmstead is one of seven children born to parents Rick and Trudy Olmstead. Her twin sister Nicole was also an athlete in high school. Olmstead is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Career High school Olmstead attended Carpinteria High School for four years. She was a starter on the school's volleyball team her entire high school career and earned team MVP in 1997. USA Volleyball (USAV) is a non-profit organization which is recognized as the national governing body of volleyball in the United States by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). 2020 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament
The 2020 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on April 14, 2021, and concluded on April 24 at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. The tournament field was announced on April 4, 2021. Typically held in the fall, this edition of the tournament was held in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kentucky beat Texas in the final to claim the first national volleyball championship not only for Kentucky, but also for its home of the Southeastern Conference. The 2020–21 BYU Cougars women's volleyball team represents Brigham Young University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's volleyball season. The Cougars are led by sixth year head coach Heather Olmstead and play their home games at the Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars are members of the WCC. BYU comes off a season where they finished second in the WCC regular season championship. The Cougars received an at-large bid and once again participated in the NCAA tournament before falling to Utah in the second round. Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, the 2020 fall season was delayed until winter/spring, and the Cougars were scheduled to play a conference only schedule. The 2019 BYU Cougars women's volleyball team represents Brigham Young University in the 2019 NCAA Division I women's volleyball season. The Cougars are led by fifth year head coach Heather Olmstead and play their home games at the Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars are members of the WCC. BYU comes off a season where they won the WCC regular season championship and once again participated in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Stanford in the national semifinal. The Cougars would put together another impressive season with a 25-4 record. However two losses in conference play caused the Cougars to finish second in the WCC. The Cougars were granted an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and were given the #14 seed, allowing them to host the first two rounds. The 2016 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on December 1, 2016 and concluded on December 17 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament field was determined on November 27, 2016. Stanford defeated Texas 3 sets to 1 in the final to claim their seventh title, tying them with Penn State for most all-time. The 2015 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began December 4, 2015 and concluded on December 19 at CenturyLink Center, now known as CHI Health Center, in Omaha, Nebraska. The tournament field was determined on November 29, 2015. Nebraska swept Texas in the final to claim their fourth national championship. Qualifying teams The champions of the NCAA's 32 conferences qualified automatically. Twenty-two conferences held tournaments, while the other ten awarded their automatic bid on the basis of being the league's regular-season champion. Those that did not hold tournaments were the American Athletic, Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Big Ten, Big West, Ivy League, Mountain West, Pac-12, Southeastern and West Coast Conferences.
