Heather Goad
Heather Goad is a Canadian linguist. Her research explores areas of phonology and language acquisition, especially investigating the shapes of phonological systems, including contrasts in English, French, Korean, Portuguese, Italian and Nepali, as well as the developmental paths of acquiring speech sounds by first and second language learners. Career and research Goad earned her BA in Linguistics at the University of British Columbia and completed her PhD in Linguistics in 1994 at the University of Southern California under the supervision of Jean-Roger Vergnaud. Since 1992 she has taught in the Department of Linguistics at McGill University, and served there as an associate dean in Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Goad's work on child language has shown the prevalence of consonant harmony via primary place of articulation. Nepali Language
Nepali (; , ) is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Himalayas region of South Asia. It is the official, and most widely spoken, language of Nepal, where it also serves as a '' lingua franca''. Nepali has official status in the Indian state of Sikkim and in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration of West Bengal. It is spoken by about a quarter of Bhutan's population.
